  1. I found it interesting that the Mets decided to release Jake Diekman. He had some great moments with this club but also some rough times. You only see what is visible at the game and not how the player responds to coaching and/or criticism. Something told the Mets to move on.

Mateo Gil has been up and down the ladder - climbed through the ranks to AAA, dropped all the way back to A+, now on his way back up.

    1. I give Stearns credit. He is not afraid to release someone that has either failed or is failing

  2. Mack,
Matos is off to a good start with the Mets DSL Blue team. I assume he was a late signee or had been released from another organization. Looks like a good prospect.

    1. Morning DJ

I try to not get excited at anyone playing any of the rookie.leagues

      Too many variables

  3. That he had the guts to release Diekman right after that strikeout of Judge, was shocking. I never knew Diekman as a pitcher, but I never felt that he was worth keeping. In an interview earlier this year after he blew the game, he seemed to not be too upset over it. That upset me. He has no control. He throws hard, but is ineffective.

It is way too bad that the Mets had so many pitcher on the IL at the deadline, or Stearns could have definitely cashed a few in:
    Severino
    Quintana

With all these relievers now coming back, Butto can go to the rotation.

  4. Mike Vasil had a great start last night. I am hoping to see him and Hamel become at least good relievers. Tidwell didn’t look good. When a talented pitcher worsens, I am pretty sure it’s injury or mental.

  5. Who is Cam Gutierrez, and how did you find out about him? The 2026 signings are already being available? Aren’t the Mets going to try for Roki Sasaki or are they not even bothering?

  6. I'd leave Butto in the pen..... if it ain't broke don't fix it. Next year start him as he's to valuable now in the pen where he can go 2 innings every 2 to three days.

  7. Mack, thanks for the news on the signings. I’m sorry to hear there isn’t any interest in Sasaki after chasing Yamamoto all winter.
