Tom Brennan: Add The Right Fuel Additive and...

THIS GUY WINKER IS PURE FUEL ADDITIVE

A lot went right for the Mets last night.

Mets pitching was able to barely contain the Dodgers' seething and formidable offense.

Jack Flaherty went from being Jim Palmer to imitating Adrian Houser.

Strikeout machine in game 1, to NO Ks for the Mets last night.

Slumping Pete smashed that in one swing, as he also smashed a huge early 3 run bomb.

Then...

They listened either to my sage advice from yesterday and prior...

Or common sense simply just hit them.

How so?

They played Winker and McNeil.

McNeil was 0 for 3, but with two sac flies, one of which was very nearly a multi-run HR.  Two sac flies, by definition, are two needful RBIs.

Winker? 2 for 3 and a walk, 3 runs scored and an RBI.

See?  You play guys who can actually hit in those 2 line up spots, and the whole line up erupts.

Such as Alvarez - as I have often written...

When the whole line up can HIT, it takes pressure off other guys like Alvarez, who didn’t try to hit a 700 foot, 8 run HR.

So he has 3 non-HR hits instead, with a run and RBI.

So, please...play Winker and McNeil in game 6...and in game 7....and after the Mets are done outscoring the Dodgers in the next two games, rinse and repeat in the World Series against the Yankees.

USE THE NON-HITTING DEFENSIVE SPECIALISTS AS RESERVES.

Thank you for your time.

  1. Well stated. We had a positive, we can do it attitude about the game. Give the line-up changes credit, it made a difference we could clearly see.

  2. Simply amazin to continue to come back game after game and we have to give credit to Mr. Cohen and Mr. Sterns for this wonderful team and the real prospect of being in the post season every year for the rest of my life! Thank You Thank You.

  3. If you were in any way disappointed with how Peterson has pitched against the Dodgers, may I make 2 points? He bent - but he did not break. And the Dodgers' team has great offense. Great offensive teams are hard for pitchers - for example, Tom Seaver was just 12-20 lifetime against the Big Red Machine.

  4. I would play Adames on third and move Vientos to first.

    Oh...

    That's next season

  5. And how sweet it was that the Robot/perfect man had a brain fart. I guess he has to go back to the lab for a tuneup.

  6. By the way could the Evil Empire have gotten a bigger layup that the Royals and Indians (their still the Indians to me)

  7. Gary, Yanks have it so easy, relatively speaking.

  8. Mack, could we be on the Eve of Adames?

  9. Drew Gilbert off to the worst start of all Arizona Fall hitters…just 2 for 24. After hitting .205 this year. Will he snap out of it?

    1. I believe the Mets future outfield will include Williams, Benge, and Morabito... but we have to wait for that

  10. Gary, I’d guess Mauricio plays in winter ball to de-rust. I would tell him: no stealing, and no unnecessary acrobatics.
