RHP EVAN CHREST (JACKSONVILLE
TO FLORIDA STATE)
Evan Chrest isn’t as highly ranked as the other arms, but there is plenty of intrigue. The numbers in the stat sheet aren’t the prettiest, but the data behind them will interest most teams. His slider clocks in well above 2800 RPMs and induces a ton of chase.
He’s got a developing fastball that sits in the low-90s and has topped out at 95 MPH. The two-pitch combo has helped him generate decent strikeout numbers, as he’s punched out 74 batters over 68.2 innings. He commands the slider decently as well.
His changeup
rounds out his three-pitch mix nicely, generating some decent Whiff on the
pitch. He’s a bit undersized, coming in at 6’0, 180lbs and heading into his
junior year, there might not be as much projectability left. But the already
decent three-pitch mix and decent command for all of them will have teams
interested on draft day.

FSU baseball is in the middle of a postseason run but Link
Jarrett and the rest of the Seminoles coaching staff are already making
additions for next year’s team. On Wednesday, they landed their first transfer
of the season in Jacksonville pitcher Evan Chrest.
Chrest spent the past two seasons with the Dolphins and
announced the news on social media. The right-hander is from Tampa, Florida,
and started 30 games with Jacksonville, finishing with a 4.46 ERA and 10-6
record.
He was one of the best freshmen in the country last year,
becoming a Second-Team All-American and First-Team Freshman All-American. He
recorded a 2.68 ERA with 98 strikeouts and 36 walks in 90 2/3 innings. He
finished with an 8-2 record.
The 6-foot, 180-pounder took a step back as a sophomore,
going 2-4 with a 6.82 ERA in 68 2/3 innings pitched. He allowed 95 hits and 25
walks to 74 strikeouts, he struggled with allowing home runs as batters hit 15
off of him in 15 starts.
