This came across the wireless wires this afternoon:
Right-hander Luis Severino, who did some fine workhorse work for the Mets in 2024, got rewarded with a 3 year deal worth $67 million, with an opt-out after 2026. Congratulations, Luis.
Significant loss for the Queens team, but a departure that was expected by most.
Thoughts?
My thought is that there seems to be a lot of stupid money thrown at pitching this year.
ReplyDeleteA 3.91 ERA = $67 million in 2024 off season baseball.
ReplyDeleteThe inmates have been running the asylum for some time now.
ReplyDeleteI am guessing that Boras wants teams at the winter meetings feeling desperate, to drive Soto's price even higher. How much of a % of the $$ does Boras get, as his agent?
ReplyDeleteThis was an internet note on Boras from 2 years ago: Boras ranks as the most powerful agent in North American team sports, with $3.83 billion in active playing contracts under management, yielding up to $191 million in commissions based on the maximum 5% fee that MLB agents are allowed to charge.
ReplyDeleteWould have liked to see Sevy back because he ate a lot of innings for the Mets. Would not have liked to see it cost $67M for that though, so good luck Oakland/Las Vegas.
