In Focus - Max Kranick/Yesterday

Pitch Profiler                      @pitchprofiler

Max Kranick slammed the door on a shutout for the Mets today, flashing the filthiest fastball/sweeper combo on the entire East Coast

Mack  -

Saving the best for last.

Another WOW outing from Kranick.

He threw 30 pitches over two innings and had a collective 0.0% barrel% (what?).

Speed range of his four pitches ranged from 77-94 and the whiff rate on his sweeper was 40%.

2025 so far – 0.2-WAR, 2-APPS, 0-0, 0.00, 0.00, 3.2-IP, 0-H, 0-R, K

BEST IN BASEBALL so far.

YESTERDAY -

Ernest Dove        @ernestdove

Mets C prospect Chris Suero was 2 for 4 with a HR last night in High A Brooklyn.

C prospect Daiverson Gutierrez 1 for 3 with a walk in Low A.

The year of catching prospects has begun !!!!!

    1. He just might be the steal of the season

      One caution

Mets need to not get excited here and overuse him early

      Fragile arm

  2. Pen is solid
    No need to overuse him.

    1. Nope, but that hasn't prevented past hot relievers to be overused

  3. The highest drafted catching prospect - Parada - was 0-4 with one K last night in the AA opener.

    1. We have three.more but they are at least 2 years away

In the off season Parada l I St 25 pounds, added muscle, and got contacts so he can see the ⚾️ coming at him.

      Helps

Let's give him until June 1stnto properly judge this

  4. 3 great performances. When the Mets got Kranick, I did not know of his high velocity.

On the poor performances category, on guy I am mystified is still playing is Ultra High K Omar de Los Santos. This year, spring training and minors, he is one for twenty, with 13 strikeouts. Am I surprised? Not at all. There is realistically no hope of him ever making the majors, except as a base stealing pinch runner. I would cut him and move Benge up to AA.See if Benge can handle it. Benge had a double and 3 walks in 5 PAs for Brooklyn in the season opener. He is already a better hitter than High K Omar, who has been in the system since 2019.

    1. I wouldn't rush Benge

It really doesn't matter what de la Soul does. He’s affiliate filler waiting for someone to take away his job

That is how minor league baseball works

    2. Agree! Let Benge earn the promotion. No hurry.

  5. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, they need to stop using Kranick so much - his K rate is only 3.2/9. I will get excited for this guy only when it hits 11 per 9 IP.
