Syracuse –
Saturday's game between the Syracuse Mets and the Worcester Red
Sox has been postponed because of rain and forecasted thunderstorms throughout
the afternoon and evening in Massachusetts. The game will be made up as part of
a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 12:05 p.m. at Polar Park. The second game
of Sunday's doubleheader will begin about 30 minutes after the conclusion of
the first game
Binghamton –
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (11-8) fell to the New Hampshire
Fisher Cats, 1-0, on Saturday at Mirabito Stadium.
Binghamton right-hander Jonathan Pintaro had his strongest start
of the season for Binghamton. He recorded a career-high nine strikeouts over a
season-high 5.2 scoreless frames and only allowed two hits and no walks.
Pintaro struck out the first five batters that he faced.
TJ Shook tossed 1.1 scoreless and hitless frames in relief of
Pintaro. He recorded one strikeout and one walk.
Postgame Notes: Shortstop Jett Williams went 2-for-4 and
recorded his fourth multi-hit game…Hernández went 2-for-4 with two singles and
recorded his first multi-hit game…Alex Ramírez went 2-for-4 with two singles and
recorded his second multi-hit game…The game went into a rain delay in the
middle of the seventh inning, which lasted 23 minutes.
Brooklyn –
Saturday's contest between the Brooklyn Cyclones and Jersey
Shore BlueClaws has been postponed due to inclement weather. It will be made up
as part of a doubleheader when the Cyclones return to New Jersey in May.
Brooklyn return to Jersey Shore for a series spanning from May 20-25.
St. Lucie -
The St. Lucie Mets held the Daytona Tortugas to four hits in a
4-2 victory on Saturday night at Clover Park. The Mets improved to 4-1 in the
series and 8-3 on their 12-game home stand.
The highlight of the night was the flame throwing by Mets
starter Raimon Gomez. The 23-year-old from Venezuela dominated the Tortugas
over 3.0 hitless innings. Gomez did not throw a fastball under 100 mph in the
first inning and he struck out Carlos Sanchez on fastball at 104.5 mph for the
game’s second out. Gomez struck out Kyle Henley to start the game on a 103 mph
heater.
The Mets scored all four of their runs in the span of four
batters to start the second inning against Daytona starter Ovis Portes. Kevin Villavicencio led off the inning with
a single. Vicent Perozo then drew a walk. Simon Juan followed with a RBI
double to make it 1-0. Trace Willhoite came up next and blasted a three-run homer to
left field to make it 4-0.
Frank Elissalt pitched a scoreless fourth inning. Wellington Aracena pitched a 1-2-3 fifth
inning but ran into trouble in the sixth. Sammy Stafura hit a two-out, two-run
triple to make it 4-2. After a pair of walks, Aracena was lifted for Josh Blum. Blum struck out
Malvin Valdez to strand the bases loaded. He also pitched a perfect seventh
inning.

Pintaro 5.2 innings 2 hits 0 runs 0 walks *9* k’s (already
a major scouting win), Cameron Foster 2 innings
1 hit 1 run 1 walk 4 k’s (consistent performer. Nice 14th round find)

Season
ERA now down to 2.93
For those
who asked about a possible "hot gun" in St. Lucie regarding Raimon Gomez 104.5 and sitting 102 today, the arms
pitching the next 2 innings involved Frank Elissalt 94-96
and Wellington Aracena topping 99 which i
believe is what they do normally.
Update.
Mets P prospect Raimon Gomez still topped 101
mph in the 3rd inn. Ended the inning
with a 91 mph slider
Mets P
prospect Wellington Aracena pitched the 5th
inning in Low A and did something I find more amazing Raimon Gomez 104.5. He
threw 10 of 12 pitches for strikes. Oh he topped 99 but that's what he does.
I'm focused on that command.
