#15 Cam Cannarella
OF Clemson
21/years old
6' 0" 180
Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 45 | Run: 60 | Arm: 40 |
Field: 60 | Overall: 55
Cannarella didn't draw much scouting attention as a
physically underdeveloped South Carolina high school middle infielder, but he
made an immediate impact as a center fielder at Clemson. He won Atlantic Coast
Conference Freshman of the Year honors in 2023 and continued to catalyze the
Tigers last spring despite playing through a torn labrum in his right
(throwing) shoulder that required surgery in July. He could become the highest
drafted position player in school history, eclipsing 13th overall picks Billy
Spiers (1987) and Tyler Colvin (2006).
Cannarella possesses some of the best bat-to-ball skills in
the Draft, making line-drive contact to all fields from the left side of the
plate, and it's almost impossible to get a fastball or slider by him. He does
venture out of the strike zone too often and gets himself out on suboptimal
groundball contact more than he should. He has some bat speed but lacks
physicality, so there's some question if he'll have more than modest pull power
and max out at 12-15 homers per season.
After using his plus speed to steal 24 bases as a freshman,
Cannarella went just 0-for-2 swiping bags last year while avoiding putting
stress on his shoulder by sliding. He's a no-doubt center fielder who covers
plenty of ground with his quickness and efficient routes. His arm graded as
below average before his injury, and he recorded just one outfield assist in
107 games during his first two seasons.

7. Miami Marlins: Cam Cannarella, OF, Clemson
The Miami Marlins are entering the beginning stages of a
rebuild, so the best player available is really all that matters in the 2025
MLB Draft. Clemson outfielder Cam Cannarella already projects to be a very
strong defender in center field, with speed that also shows up on the base
paths. He likely won’t ever hit for much power, but the 21-year-old’s swing
from the left side can make plenty of solid contact. Long-term, he could be a
25-steal guy who is at least in consideration for a few Gold Glove Awards for
his work in the outfield and his bat won’t hurt you in the lineup.
Cam Cannarella stats (2024): .337/.417/.561, .978 OPS, 11
home runs, 3 triples, 16 doubles

No. 8. Toronto Blue Jays Cam Cannarella, OF, Clemson Baseball
Cannarella was ranked higher than LaViolette this time a year
ago among top prospects in 2025. And it’s not like he had a bad season in 2024.
He hit .337/.417/.561 with 16 doubles and 11 home runs. He
has great speed and is a terrific defender at center field.
Cannarella is the No. 9 prospect at FloBaseball. He could
move through the system quickly and be ready by 2026.
He'll also be tested early, as Clemson opens the season Feb.
14 at Globe Life Field at the Shriners Children's College Showdown. Cannarella
will face Oklahoma State, Arizona and Ole Miss that weekend.

MLB 2025 Mock Draft 2.0: Predictions for Every 1st-Round Pick
7. Miami Marlins: OF Cam Cannarella, Clemson
With a plus hit tool, good speed and the defensive chops to
stick in center field, Cannarella offers one of the highest ceilings of any
college bat in the 2025 class. He played through a torn labrum in his shoulder
last season and still hit .337/.417/.561 with 16 doubles, 11 home runs and 60
RBI. With a clean bill of health, he could quickly solidify his status as a
top-tier prospect in this class.

4. Cam Cannarella – OF
HT/WT: 6’0/180 | Bat/Throw: L/R | School: Clemson | Age:
21.10
Cannarella stepped onto campus as an infielder, but a
roadblock in the Clemson infield gave him an opportunity in center field that
he has not relinquished.
A gamer in every sense of the word, Cannarella is a dangerous
hitter with some of the best contact skills in the entire country. It’s a
lovely left-handed swing built more for line drives right now, but he’s shown
flashes of raw power to the gaps and to his pull side.
There was a noteworthy change in Cannarella’s approach in
2024, as he upped his fly ball rate and tapped more into his pop, as his
average exit velocity was ~91 MPH.
This led to higher swing and chase rates, though his
bat-to-ball skills didn’t waver much and his swinging strike rate was under 8%.
That’ll play.
Cannarella figures to stick in center field long term, as his
instincts, routes, and glove grade highly and give him the tools to handle the
position. He also has above-average speed, though he didn’t flash it this past
spring due to a labrum injury he suffered in February.
Assuming he returns to the field with a clean bill of health
in 2025, Cannarella has the toolset to be a top-ten pick.

College Baseball Player Of The Year Award Predictions For
2025
ACC
Player of the Year: Cam Cannarella (Clemson)
While Georgia Tech sophomore Drew Burress owns a seriously
compelling case for preseason ACC Player of the Year after an award-winning
freshman season last year, Cannarella edged him out thanks to a one of the top
active hit tools in college baseball, as well as a plus-plus glove in center.
The 2023 ACC Freshman of the Year put together an outstanding
sophomore season, hitting .337/.417/.561 with 16 doubles, 11 home runs and 60
RBI in 58 games, while making some of the best defensive plays of the campaign
along the way.
Cannarella is a top prospect in this year’s draft and is
firmly at the forefront of Clemson’s offense.

4. Cam Cannarella, OF, Clemson
Premium athlete with the ability to stick in center field
long term and projects to be a plus CF.
Excellent at the plate as well with an outstanding contact rate (91%)
and a solid swing and miss rate. He’s the type of profile that will likely see
him climb his way into first-pick consideration with a similar skill set to
former Nationals first-rounder (2023 #2 pick) Dylan Crews.

Clemson baseball kicks off its season next month, with center
fielder Cam Cannarella poised to lead a preseason Top 10 team.
Cannarella is garnering significant MLB Draft attention, with
Baseball America projecting him as the No. 6 overall pick to the Pittsburgh
Pirates in July’s draft. MLB.com ranks him as the No. 2 outfield prospect,
highlighting his impressive rise from an under-the-radar South Carolina high
school player to a standout at Clemson. Despite playing through a torn labrum
last season, Cannarella earned ACC Freshman of the Year honors in 2023 and
could become the highest-drafted position player in Clemson history.
Known for his elite contact hitting and defensive range in
center field, Cannarella boasts a career .363 batting average with 32 doubles,
18 homers, and 24 steals across 117 starts.

2025 MLB Mock Draft: So it begins…

11. Oakland Athletics
Cam Cannarella, OF/SS — Clemson
HOMETOWN: Hartsville, South Carolina
HEIGHT: 6-0
WEIGHT: 180
BAT/THROW: L-r
Cannarella possesses borderline elite bat-to-ball skills and
a selective, keen eye at the plate. He takes his walks and is a menace on the
base paths though he was forced to play more station-to-station in 2024 while
dealing with a shoulder injury.
While Cannarella doesn’t possess much more than average raw
power, it’s further diluted by his higher-than-preferred ground ball rates.
Those will need to improve if he’s to realize his top-ten pick upside. There’s
enough raw power to force pitchers to be careful with him and Cannarella has
shown an innate feel for the fat part of the bat highlighted by an average exit
velocity in as a sophomore that approached 91 mph.
It’s a potential gold glove in centerfield and that should
continue to buoy his profile if he never realizes the impact upside at the
dish.
Joe Doyle @JoeDoyleMiLB Sep 16, 2024:
Clemson OF Cam Cannarella is arguably the top draft prospect
in the ACC in 2025. A dynamic athlete with five tools and an electric
personality, he's got a fiery edge to his game.
He's refusing to let adversity slow his shine.

MLB.com teammate Jonathan Mayo projected Cannarella as the
No. 3 overall pick in his early draft lookahead in July.
"After hitting .388/.462/.560 as a freshman, Cannarella
managed to post a .978 OPS as a sophomore while playing through a shoulder
injury that required surgery. When healthy, he’s a pure hitter who drives the
ball to all fields, runs well and plays a solid center field," Mayo said.
"Cannarella showed elite bat-to-ball skills as a true
freshman in 2023," B/R's Joel Reuter said. "The 6'0", 170-pound
outfielder showed more playable power as a sophomore, hitting .337/.417/.561
with 16 doubles, 11 home runs and 60 RBI in 58 games.
"Cannarella also profiles as a standout defensive center
fielder and should provide significant value with his glove."
