Mike Puma NY Post: How playing new position finally caught up with Mets’ Tejada. "Tejada, who made his sixth straight start at third base, committed two errors that contributed to the Mets’ ugly performance in a 7-3 loss to the Padres. In the first inning, Tejada booted Derek Norris’ grounder, leading to two unearned runs. In the third, Tejada made a wild throw to first base that allowed Norris to reach. Gee (0-3) struggled, allowing seven runs in four-plus innings.
ESPN.com: Padres capitalize on Mets' defensive miscues to support James Shields. "James Shields (7-0) cruised through five innings, permitting just one runner to reach second base. The right-hander allowed two runs and six hits overall. He struck out four, walked two and used three double plays to avoid major damage...The Mets were hurt by three errors -- two by fill-in third baseman Ruben Tejada -- that led to three unearned runs. Winless starter Dillon Gee, just off the disabled list, also hit a batter with a pitch with the bases loaded...After trailing 7-0, the Mets brought the potential tying run to the plate in the ninth. But slugger Lucas Duda grounded out with the bases loaded against Craig Kimbrel to end it."
For Gee, the loss is the last decision he gets a Met. He still throws two more games in his Mets career but both are no decisions for him.
Despite the loss, the Mets stay a half game behind the Washington Nationals as they fall 8-0 to the Blue Jays.
