Who will
the Mets take with their first pick in the '26 Draft?
Coleman Borthwick, RHP,
South Walton (Fla.) HS (No. 23); Cole Koeninger, SS/RHP, Keller (Texas) HS (No.
58): We’ll group these two together in the two-way bucket.
Borthwick is a 6-foot-6 right-hander and powerful corner
infielder. He can get up to 97-98 mph with his fastball with good life, and
there’s a mid-80s slider that already looks at least above average. That’s
enough to dream on him as a pitcher, and you could imagine the Mets’ pitching
group wanting to work on someone with that frame and arsenal.

17-year-old 6-ft-6 RHP Coleman
Borthwick is one of the top HS arms in the '26 draft. The Auburn baseball
commit has a plus fastball that's flashed upper-90s, and pairs it with an
above-avg slider.
With a 255 lb frame, he could end up on the top of many team
boards come July.

Told you guys Coleman Borthwick is an exciting talent, whom the Mets
should target with their 1st RD selection (Pick #27), in the upcoming 2026 MLB
Draft.

Above-average tools across the board, including 55-grade present power and room to add more as he fills in his 6-2, 185lb. frame. After an up-and-down summer on the showcase circuit, he needs to show a more consistent hit too this spring, but his potential power alone is enough to make him one of the top HS outfielders in the class.

Tyner Flynt is a 2026 OF/LHP with a 6-0 165 lb.
frame from Purvis, MS who attends Presbyterian Christian. Medium, lean frame
with long levers and good physical projection. Ran a 7.37 60-yard dash. Primary
outfielder, under control on the charge, breaks down and fields the ball with
one hand funnel on the side of the frame, full arm swing to a high
three-quarters slot, good arm strength for the age with more coming as he adds
strength, recorded accurate throws up to 82 mph. Secondary left-handed pitcher,
slow tempo delivery into a high leg lift, creates good angle in the delivery,
long and loose arm action to a three-quarters slot. Creates heavy arm-side sink
to the fastball in the low-80s, getting up to 86 mph. Mixed in a 1-7 shaped
breaking ball in the low-70s and a fading changeup in the upper-70s. Pounded
the zone. Left-handed hitter, simple setup with an even base and a slightly
open front side, knee lift trigger stride, linear bat path, worked consistently
to the middle of the field and lived on the barrel. Should continue to grow
into power as he adds strength. Excellent student. Named to 2023 Fall Top
Prospect National Showcase Top Prospect List.
Cameron Flukey, RHP,
Coastal Carolina
Flukey has a prototypical pitcher’s frame, standing a lean 6-foot-6 with long
limbs. He has a long arm swing, but he’s graceful on the mound and repeats his
delivery well, which you don’t always see with pitchers of this size and age.
His fastball was in the 92-95 mph range last year, with life up in the zone.
Despite his height, he gets a flatter plane on his fastball than you might
expect due to his plus extension. Flukey pairs his fastball with two vertical
breaking balls, a gyro slider and a 12-6 curveball. His slider is the more
frequently used of the two pitches and has late, tight break; Flukey posted a
48% whiff rate on the pitch. His curveball is pretty loopy at the moment. It
has depth, but he doesn’t have much feel for it at present and it’s easy to
detect out of the hand. Flukey spent time both in the ‘pen and as a starter
last year, totaling 55 innings in 19 appearances (10 starts), but he should be
a full-time starter this season. Super projectable, he could very well be the
first college pitcher taken in 2026.

I am a little concerned that the pipeline of catchers is weak. Some of the big catching prospects have not turned into what was expected. Even Alvarez has not become the star we imagined. So with no disrespect to Chris Suero and some of the recent international signings, let's go get a catcher at 1.27.
You're kidding, right?
Currently, catching has the 2nd deepest prospect talent (next to SS), in the chain.
And Suero isn't even in the top two
