As the 2026 season beings in three short months, we'll have our first real look at the Mets' 2025 draft class. True, some of their selections already made their MiLB debut in late 2025, but now we'll get to see the majority of them playing in their first games and first full MiLB season.
Here are three draft picks that could make some serious moves among Met prospect rankings.
INF Mitch Voit:
The Mets first round selection (38) in 2025, Voit was a two-way player during his time at the University of Michigan. During his time in Ann Arbor, he put up impressive numbers at the plate. In his junior year he batted .292 with 14 home runs, 46 RBIs, 20 doubles and put up an OPS of .945. By his senior year he improved on almost all those numbers with a batting average of .346, 60 RBIs, 14 stolen bases, and an OPS of 1.140.
The most impressive jump for Voit from his junior year to senior year was his strikeout to walk ratio. In his junior year, Voit walked 23 times and struck out 61. In his senior year his walks (40) surpassed his strikeouts (34).
After the Mets drafted him, Voit found himself in Low-A St. Lucie where they found that not only does his have good skills at the plate but can also light up the basepath. In just 22 games with St. Lucie, Voit stole 20 bases and was caught just once. While his overall numbers (.235 AVG) and (.638 OPS) were lower than what he saw in college, Voit coming into his first MiLB full season at just 21 years old.
Voit provides the Met system with a nice blend of contact, power and speed. Like most of the recent Met draft picks his plate discipline surpasses his age. Look for Voit to start 2026 in St. Lucie and if he continues to improve he could be in High-A Brooklyn by season's end.
RHP Peter Kussow:
With their fourth round pick the Mets selected high schooler, Peter Kussow from Hartland, WI. He's 6'5 and 205lbs so he has the look of an intimidating pitcher at just 18-years-old. He didn't make it to any MiLB level, post draft day, and as of now, hasn't played beyond high school ball. He was rated as Wisconsin's top high school player prior to the 2025 draft.
What we do know about Kussow is that he has a live fastball that's already topped out at 97 mph, with plenty of time and room to get it even faster. Per scouts, his best pitch is a slider that ranges from 82-85mph, and as of recently, has begun working on a changeup.
Coming out of snowy Wisconsin, Kussow might be a step or two behind his high school counterparts from warm weather states, but his potential is through the roof. I'd image the Mets will keep him at the lower levels, and we likely won't see him pitch until the Florida Complex League season starts closer to the summer.
The Mets have almost made it into a habit these last few years at drafting and developing starting pitchers. Kussow could be the part yet another crop of arms coming up the system as he's already ranked as the Mets' number 27 prospect per MLB Pipeline.
RHP Truman Pauley:
We're going down the draft list for this last prospect, as the Mets drafted Truman Pauley with their 12th round selection (373rd pick overall). Not only can Pauley pitch well, but he could work for Pearson Hardman if he decided to take up a career in Law (shoutout to Suits fans) as he spent his college days at Harvard University.
In his sophomore year in 2025, Pauley earned Honorable Mention All-Ivy honors, and secured a spot on the Ivy League Tournament All-Tournament Team. He led the Ivy League in strikeouts with 91 and opponent batting average at .171.
After the Mets drafted him, Pauley began his professional career with St. Lucie and he was used as a starter during his short stint there. In three starts over 4.1 innings, Pauley had an ERA of 2.08, allowing no hits and just one run.
He'll be 22 heading into his first full professional season in 2026 and we'll likely see him with St. Lucie again. A quick study both on and off the field, we should expect to see him continue to improve and have more of a role on the St. Lucie Mets this season. Still another pitcher in the Met system worth watching, the Mets have already turned some latter round picks (Jack Wenninger) into marquee prospects. Could Pauley be the next in that line?

Steve, nice recap. Voit exploded late: he went 7 for 15 with 4 walks in Sept in 4 games before the season closed, with NINE steals in those 4 games. Dang, bruh.
That should have any Voit skeptics spitting out the coffee after over-gulping in stunned reaction to those awesome stats. More steals than Mark Vientos in his entire majors/minors career.
I only ask one simple thing: that Mitch turn that torrid 4 game pace into his entire career pace!
Love the last two
Thank you, Steve, great recap. Love to learn about our future prospects.
Thank you for the detailed reads on these players. I never get deep into the recently drafted players beyond the first round or two.
They keep developing these pitchers & the Voit will be exciting to watch. Now that they are building a consistently interesting farm system - it will be so much fun to watch them grow.
MACK - Top 30 Prospects -ll three of these will be additions to my revised Top 30 Mets prospect list, that begins January 30th
RVH, there seems to be a lot more over-slot signings, such as AJ Ewing, and that seems to be a great strategy when you’re losing 10 slots on the first pick
