As of end 7/1 – 15-G, 12-ST,
3-5, 3.84,
1.43, 68-IP, 39-K, 68-K – frankly, Wenninger keeps slowly going in the wrong
direction. It really would be nice to see a turnaround this week…

As of end 6-24 – 7-G, 6-ST, 4.80,
1.50, 30-IP, 14-BB, 29-K
On 6-25, Thornton was called
back to Queens to pitch the next day, in place of the traded David Peterson.
6-25/MLB: 6-IP, 5-H, 1-R, BB, 7-K – nice. You would
think, now that Peterson has been traded and Senga has been banished to the
pen, that an outing like this will create an invite, but we’ll see…
7—1 – 5.2-IP, 3-H, 2-ER,
4-BB, 4-K – why this guy is back in the minors makes no sense to me
As of end 7/1 – 8-G, 7-ST,
1-3, 4.54,
1.46, 35.2-IP, 18-BB, 33-K – strange… killer MLB start this past week, but AAA
stats much worse than Wenninger. Another starter that needs a great AAA start
this week.
SP Jonah Tong/AAA-Syracuse
– For some reason, some people around here think this guy is a prospect, so, by
popular demand, he’s baaaaaaaak…
As of 6-24 – 12-ST, 1-5, 6.30,
1.62, 50-IP, 32-BB, 68-K
6-25 – 6-IP, 4-H, 2-R, 2-BB,

fifth starter.
As of 7/1 – 13-ST, 1-5, 5.95,
1.55, 56-IP, 34-BB, 71-K – ya know, I’m really starting to take him off my

MLB – 5-G, 0-ST, 0-0, 5.11, 0.73,
12.1-IP, 3-BB, 12-K – Pintaro is currently being used as a fill-in reliever in

Brooklyn – not sure Hawk is a starter now, though he did start on Sunday,
tossing 3.2 scoreless innings, giving up only two hits, walking one and
striking out two. The important thing is he has now lowered his seasonal ERA to
2.08, far below the minimal 2.99 needed to make this report. Welcome Hawk.

HELIUM ALERT
OF Nick Lucky/AA-Binghamton
– Lucky was drafted by the Boston Red Sox (14th round) in 2018, out
of Coastal Carolina and signed by the Mets on 6-16, away from Indy Lancaster
Stormers. So far, as of 6-24, he’s hitting .381, which is sorta good.
BTW
Per Pitch Profiler @pitchprofiler
Nolan McLean's curveball is the best-graded pitch in baseball this season
at a 134 proPitching+. At 81.8 mph with 40 percent whiffs and a .138 wOBA
allowed on 190 thrown, hitters have genuinely no answer for it. Bryan Baker's
changeup checks in at 132.

I still like the speedy Trey Snyder. Coming off of long term injury, I am hoping he will kick it into high gear now.
Elian Peña concerns me a bit. I know he is young, but after a scorching April, he has hit .215 since. He does walk a lot and steal a lot, though, so I will assume it is some growing pains average-wise.
The Parada demotion to AA is puzzling. He was hitting. If he can be demoted, why not Clifford?
Hurtado impressing so far is right.
I’m just wild about Vladi. He and Bohan are stealing everything g not locked down.
Re Snyder
Snyder is far from a top prospect. He made this list because of his output
That has now dissipated. He will return to this report if he produces
Re: Pena
I share your concerns
Re: Parada
I assume they decided that others better suit as possible Mets catchers in Queens.
Re: Hurtado
Currently my #1 starter
I like Snyder speed. 147 minor league games, he stolen 51 of 62. That being said, as the old adage goes, they can’t steal first base. I still think Snyder’s better than he shown so far, and that he’ll be back on your tracking list before Long.
I am still a Tong guy. I am thinking he is “working on expanding the repertoire”. But to say, I am not disappointed with his 2026 would be a lie. I am very disappointed so far.
expanding his repertoire, my ass... Tong has had one of the largest repertoire's for years. he simply is sucking this year
As you know, I was never a 'Tong' guy. I had even expressed the view that we should put him in a trade for Skubal at the deadline, when I was fantasizing before the season that we would be in the hunt for a championship and buyers at the deadline.
I have not bought into Tong, which would be crazy given how he is performing this year. But I have softened into a wait and see and that's because while everyone seems to be discussing how efforts to increase his repetoire have not taken hold, I keep pointing out that the main issue is that he has made a significant change in his release point, which he had to do to avoid injury. This kind of change requires several additional changes to accommodate it into a new movement pattern; and new release point impacts how all pitches respond. It also eliminates his 'deception' as a weapon -- which is not sustainable anyway. To I want to see how he develops at this point and am giving him as much runway as possible. It would be nice, however, to see an uptick or two in performance over the remaining period this season in Syracuse.
I would convert him to a backend reliever
Good Morning All,
I think they should just make Parada a DH and forget about the catching position?
I believe he was sent down to make room for Polanco and Roberts to get at bats. Let the guy concentrate on just hitting and see if he can maintain what he has been doing in AAA.
Interesting idea. You are right about why he was demoted. Hope it is temporary. It wouldn't be the worst thing if your DH could serve as an emergency catcher. Right now, our #1 catcher, Alvarez is not likely to do either well enough.
Tom,
I am not sure as to the accuracy, but another website stated that Parada was sent back to AA because of his defense and the desire to have the AAA pitchers throwing to a better defensive catcher.
DJ-- Interesting point.about Parada, though not sure why they believe his defense will improve in AA. I do think its important that pitchers get to pitch to good defensive catchers. How come that doesn't seem as important to the Mets at the major league level. If it were, Alvarez would never have been catching the bulk of the games. It is worth pointing out that since Green has taken over, Torrens is getting the bulk of the catching while Alvarez DHs. I mean, 'strikes out'.
