LAST GAME: Despite a twelve-strikeout performance by Matt Bowman and eleven hits from the offense, the Binghamton Mets fell to the New Britain Rock Cats, 3-2, on Saturday night at New Britain Stadium. Binghamton stranded a nine-inning, season-high 13 runners on base in their third loss in four games. Following a Kevin Plawecki sac fly in the first, New Britain put two on the board in the third on a pair of RBI singles. Darrell Ceciliani blooped an RBI single into right in the fifth to tie it before the Rock Cats regained the lead for good on a wild pitch by Bowman in the bottom of the inning. Virgil Vasquez stranded nine runners over six innings to earn his third win. Lester Oliveros worked around a two-out walk for his seventh save.
BINGHAMTON STARTER: LHP Alex Panteliodis takes the mound for his Double-A debut. The southpaw from Tampa, Florida was called up prior to today’s game to fill in for Greg Peavey, who was promoted to Las Vegas (AAA). Panteliodis started the season late, missing the first seven weeks before throwing one game for the St. Lucie Mets (High-A). He earned the win, allowing two runs over 6.1 innings on Thursday, May 22 against the Clearwater Threshers. He was selected in the 9th round of the 2011 draft out of the University of Florida.
NEW BRITAIN STARTER: LHP Pat Dean makes his team-leading eleventh start of the season and first against the B-Mets. The southpaw took the no-decision in his last start against the Portland Sea Dogs on Tuesday, May 27. He allowed six runs on six hits while lasting just 1.1 innings in a game New Britain won 9-8. Dean is on an eight-game winless stretch and hasn’t won since April 9. Dean was selected by the Twins in the 3rd round of the 2010 draft.

AT THE HOT CORNER: Due to injuries to several infielders, the B-Met have relied on backup catchers to man the hot corner in the last three games. Nelfi Zapata made back-to-back starts at third on Thursday and Friday. He committed one fielding error and collected one assist in three total chances. Zapata had not played third base since high school.Xorge Carrillo made his professional debut at third on Saturday night, successfully converting both groundballs hit his way into outs
