House was a top 8 pick going into this mock season, but then had a miserable summer. You can't hold your ranking in a draft like this if you don't pull your weight throughout your young career.
For that reason, I dropped him out of the Top 10.
I also think he will not stick at short and will wind up on third someday.

Areas To Improve: Cut down on swing and miss, dominate Georgia pitching, show impact
House seems to be the latest victim of prospect fatigue, but it’s true that he didn’t dominate offensively like most evaluators wanted him to last summer. Because of that, he’ll need to cut down some of the swing and miss that was in his game and show impact against Georgia pitching this spring. While he’s athletic for his size and was a better defensive shortstop than many scouts expected, he’s still a risk to move to the hot corner at the next level and will need to hit and hit with power to profile there out of high school.

The Rockies swooped in at nine overall in 2020 and scooped arguably the most talented player in the prep class. Moving up one slot in 2021, they land arguably the most physically talented player in the prep class in House. While he lacks Veen's track record, House possesses elite physical and athletic attributes that make him a high upside pick. His ability to stick at shortstop coupled with his raw power provide a nice chassis to dream on. Questions surrounding his feel to hit and some struggles against quality pitching have diminished his once legitimate 1.1 buzz early in the process, but it's hard to dispute how loud his tools could be with seasoning.

House entered the summer as the top-ranked high school prospect and did nothing to lose that status. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound shortstop has an exciting combination of high-level track record and a gaudy toolset to go along with it. The offensive tools are the loudest with House. He has terrific bat speed and natural strength, to go along with an advanced approach that allows him to track velocity and offspeed stuff with consistency. Scouts with history on House believe he has the ability to develop into a plus hitter, and his raw power should develop into 70-grade juice as he continues to develop. He’s already a physical and imposing hitter now, with plenty of impact to all fields and plus raw power, but there’s more to be had in the future. Defensively, House has easy plus arm strength—he can reach 96 mph on the mound—that could be an asset on the infield, where he has a good chance to stick. He doesn’t look like a typical pro shortstop, but evaluators have been impressed with his hands, reactions, internal clock and body control. Some believe he would be a better fit at third base, where he has all the tools to turn into an above-average defender. House is committed to Tennessee but is a top-of-the-first round talent and is unlikely to get to campus.

House ordinarily enough has drawn comparisons to Troy Glaus due to his raw power and build. He’s quite possibly the best case scenario for the Angels at 9. House doesn’t fit the bill that had the Angels interested in Jo Adell, and Jordyn Adams (lean built athletic prep bats able to play a premium position) but he’s got similarly high upside and has been the most well-known name in this draft outside of Kumar Rocker.
Scouts were hopeful House would be able to stay at short because of the plus arm, in spite of lacking feel for the spot, but the first time scouts got a clutter of live-looks on him he spent most of the week at 3B thanks to teammate and another possible first rounder, Ryan Spikes. House did spend time at SS though and he looked capable, though he’s still destined to play 3B, which is far from a negative as there’s upside in his abilities at the spot, mostly the arm.
With limited data, House isn’t as optimized as we once believed. He tends to swing down at balls, which produces high EV’s, but it’s with negative and single-digit LA’s. I’m not overly concerned about this though as House is sneaky athletic and implementing loft shouldn’t be an issue. His youth — combined with fictitious arm bend — are the cherry on top. House’s front leg stability (Trout like) is spearheaded by a violent back leg. Put all of it together and you’re looking at quite possibly the most pro-ready amateur hitter in the class.
House’s early summer concerns were overshadowed by his impressive showing at the WWBA, and he’s right back into the conversation for the top prep bat. House is a Tennessee commit.

6. Arizona Diamondbacks: Brady House, SS/RHP, Winder-Barrow (Ga.) HS
House is a 6-4, 210-pound two-way player who is intriguing in the field and on the mound. Offensively, he hits for average and power from the right side of the plate. Defensively, he currently plays shortstop and handles the position well, possessing a strong arm and smooth actions in the field.
On the mound, House has hit 96 mph with his fastball and mixes in a breaking pitch and changeup. He is a Tennessee commit.
The spring season will be critical for House after he struggled against high-end pitching at times last summer. It’s hard to deny his potential, but scouts will want to consistently see him perform on the field to feel comfortable making him a top-10 pick.

Seattle Mariners
The Mariners have the young talent to make a strong run for the AL West after floundering this past decade, and with Jerry DiPoto’s draft and IFA signings starting to bear fruit, now might be the perfect time for them to pounce. What the Mariners could still use is a big bat, and they stand to fall into getting one of the top prep power bats in Brady House. Though House struggled this summer as do many high visibility prep players, his timing and mistakes are fixable, and it is possible for him to regain his draft stock. House is a high school shortstop, but scouts see him as a pro third baseman because of his below average speed. His arm is pro grade though, and if he can return to form, could be this year’s Brett Baty.

13. Philadelphia Phillies: Brady House, SS, Winder-Barrow HS (GA)
The run on prep shortstops continues and Dave Dombrowski swings for the fences with his first draft pick in Philadelphia. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Georgia prep was seen as the top prospect in the class last year, but he’s struggled offensively since then. House possesses raw power to all fields and incredible bat speed, but there’s obvious swing and miss in his game. He won’t stay at shortstop long-term, but he could be a plus defender with enough bat at the hot corner.

The Diamondbacks land arguably the top prep prospect in the class with Brady House, an ultra-physical shortstop who showed particularly well on both sides of the ball as the circuit came to a close in the fall. At 6-foot-3, 210 pounds there’s ample strength to his frame, allowing him to whip the barrel through the zone with big strength at impact. Any while some may be quick to point to a slide over to third base, the combination of athleticism, body control and a plus arm leave plenty of optimism for him to stick up the middle. Like House, Massey is relatively young for the class and has seen his stock soar since arriving in Minnesota though there’s reason to believe he hasn’t reached his ultimate ceiling. Standing 6-foot-5, 205 pounds, Massey generates easy velocity given his plus arm speed, reaching the mid-90s while showing the potential for a plus slider as well. -Jheremy Brown
Cervino’s Take: The Diamondbacks go with massive upside in their first two picks in potentially the top prep prospect in Winder-Barrow’s Brady House and young-for-the-grade right-hander out of Minnesota in JP Massey. House capped off the year with a scorching hot fall and there’s real All-Star potential should he put it all together while Massey has continued to make strides given the arm talent, stuff, and athleticism. Pairing these two makes for a particularly enticing duo to kick off what would be an exciting draft.
