TODAY’S GAME:
This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Charlotte Knights in the final game of a four-game series from Knights Stadium (12:15 p.m.). Ahead 2-1, the Herd can pick up the series win with another victory today. It would be the Bisons third straight series win as they have won seven of their last 10 games. After the game, the Herd will travel to Gwinnett to face the G-Braves for the first time ever, June 23-26. vs.
THE KNIGHTS:
The Bisons are 2-1 against Charlotte this year and have won six of their last nine games against the Knights, dating back to last year. Since rejoining the International League in 1998, the Bisons are a 45-46 against the Knights. The only other team Buffalo has a losing record against is the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (10-13).
KNIGHT’S NO BULL:
RHP Brandon Knight is coming off his best outing with the Herd. On June 14, Knight threw a nine-inning complete game to beat Durham, 8-1. In his outing, the veteran allowed just one run on six hits. He also walked none and struck out seven. Knight is the Bisons team leader with 65 strikeouts on the season.
IN LIKE A LAMB:
INF Mike Lamb extended his hit streak to eight games yesterday. Since June 8, Lamb has averaged .414 (12-29) with two doubles, a triple, three RBI and five runs scored. The stretch includes a perfect 4-4 performance on June 16 in Syracuse.
THE RIGHT REY:
Missing 15 games with a groin contusion hasn’t interrupted INF Argenis Reyes’ great work at the plate. Since being activated on June 15, Reyes has averaged .364 (8-22) with three doubles, a triple, three RBI, a stolen base and three runs scored. In just five games, Reyes has raised his average 18 points to a team-leading .303. His nine stolen bases are tied with OF Jesus Feliciano for the team lead.
