Prospect Report - Under The Radar

Alonzo Harris – OF – Rookie K-Port – 20-yrs old – hopefully has come out of a ten game slump (.217) with a 3-5, HR, 3-RBI performance on July 10… season: .260/.286/.466/.751

Ruben Tejada – (added) – SS – AA – John Sickles criticized Tejada this week as basically being a non-prospect due to his weak bat.

Mike Antonini – RP – AA – Things continued to go south for Antonini on July 3, when he returned to the Binghamton rotation. Not good: 1.2-IP, 7-ER, 1-K, 3-BB.

Emary Frederick – RP – A+ - July 4: 1.1-IP, 3-ER, one big 3-run home run in the 9th which cost Lucy the game… July 8: 3.0-IP, 1-ER…

Scott Moveil – SP – A+ - Moviel moved up after rehabbing with the GCL Mets and had his first start on the season for Lucy. Sort of okay: 5.0-IP, 3-ER, 2-K, 4-H, 1-BB, 5.40. At one point in the game, Moviel retired 14 batters in a row… July 8: 5.0-IP, 8-H, 5-ER, 1-K, 1-BB, ERA now 7.20 at A+… Moviel, has a ton of talent and this has been a real topsy-turvy year for his due to injuries. I’m gonna kid the kid a pass for the season, and leave him up on this list. Potentially (if the Mets develop two SPs out of Nise, Holt, Mejia, and Familia), his only future as a Met in Queens would be as a reliever anyway. Pitch away Scott and get your rhythm back.

Sean Ratliff – OF – A – Ratliff hit like a house on fire, but has tailed off… hitting only .139 over the past 10 games, but still .270 for the year…

Rhiner Cruz – CL – A – July 4: 1.0-IP, 0-H, 0-ER, 13th save… 7/5: 1.0-IP, 0-ER, 14th save… 7/10: 1.0-IP, 1-ER. 2-K, 15th save… Cruz has his ERA below two and it’s time to conder him moving up the radar screen… hell of a year in Savannah…

James Fuller – RP – low-A - July 5: 6.0-IP, 0-ER, 5-K, 0-BB, still 0.00 after 19.0 IP… July 10: 6.0-IP, 3-ER, 7-K, 1-BB… ERA: “soared” to 1.08… 25K/25.0IP ratio…

Mark Cohoon – SP – low-A – July 7: 7.0-IP, 2-ER, 6-K, 0-BB… that’s 31-Ks in 29.0 IP in the 4 starts so far this season… Cohoon has always been a strikeout guy, and the Mets can’t seem to decide if he’s a starter or reliever. This is the 2nd time it has happened in his young professional career.

Michael Powers – RP – July 4: 2.0-IP, 0-ER, win… July 5: 0.1 scoreless… save…

Cesar Puello – OF - Puello has mysteriously been out of the lineup all week and I can’t seem to get any update on his injury, if any.

Nelfi Zapata – (up from preemies) – C – GCL – Zapata hit his first home run of the season on July 4, against the GCL Marlins. On July 5, he went 2-4, with a double, and raised his BA to .414. July 6: 3-run scoring triple… batted .406 over the past ten games… It’s still very early, but, trust me, if the Mets find a catcher that can hit with power, he will move fast.
