Prospect Report - Maybe Babies

Tobi Stoner – SP – AAA – a sub-par outing on July 5: 5.2-IP, 6-ER, 6-K, 2-BB, 1-HR… Friday night was his turn to pitch well: 7.0-IP, 0-ER, 3-K… Stoner has to become more consistent, which he will do when he gets his shot in Queens next year in the ST pen a la Bobby Parnell.

Eddie Kunz – RP – AAA – July 6: 2.0-IP, 0-ER, 2-K, 2-BB, 3.22… July 7: poor extra-inning outing: 1.1-IP, 3-ER, 2-BB, loss… ERA now up to a critical 3.82 for a relief prospect in AAA. Has given up 7-ER in last 4.1-IP.

Josh Thole – C – AA – Has hit .294 in his last ten games, which is a slump for Thole… .346/.414/.455/.869 for the season… only 25 Ks in 257 at bats…

Dillon Gee – SP – AAA – turns out he did not have season-ending surgery and has begun soft-tossing. May be back in a week or so.

Scott Shaw – SP – A+ - July 6th was a relatively bad start for Shaw: 5.0-IP, 3-ER, 5-BB… the good news is this is about as bad as it has got for him, especially the walks. Most games the past week were rained out.

Jenry Marte – 3B – A – Marte continues to struggle at A-ball. Current stats are .231/.266/.332/.598… has batted only .216 in last ten games… I still think they ought to shut the kid down…

Jimmy Johnson – RP – A+ - poor outing on July 5: 2.0-IP, 1-ER… July 7: 1.1-IP, 0-ER… July 9: 3.0-IP, 0-ER… turns 24 in the off-season.

Eric Beaulac – SP – A – July 7: 5.0-IP, 9-K, 0-ER, 2.54… I’m still not sure if Eric is solidly back in the rotation, which we’ll find out Sunday night. One thing is certain, the boy knows the importance of K/IP ratio… for the season: 83/67.1. He’s been on my prospect list since rookie ball simply because he has always dominated in this statistic. You can pitch him all year at A ball, he can walk some, give some runs up, and hit a couple more, but 83/67.1 means he’s ready to move on.
