AHern for Veloz

Hot off the news wire, Mets trade minor league infielder Greg Veloz for former Mets prospect and Sterling Award Winner Anderson Hernandez.
------------------------
Clearly there is a need for some infield help with Reyes hurt and Castillo as brittle as ever. Not a bad deal for the Mets who didn't have to give up much to get the deal done

I try not to speak unfavorably about guys I have played with...it's catty and doesn't reflect well on the author...that being said, Veloz will not be missed. I never liked his attitude or work ethic, and he was a poor teammate to boot. I remember when he and Juan Lagares hated each other so much that neither would cover second base on a stolen base attempt just to spite one another. I remind you, we are talking about professional baseball players who are earning a paycheck to play a game. This came to a head one day in Savannah when Sean McCraw had three balls sail into center field, all 3 of which should have been caught stealings for Mack. Ridiculous. Oh well, now he's the Nats problem

  1. Veloz was a "non-interview" who under-achieved. The only reason his BA was as high as it was (which wasn't high), was because he was a steaky hitter.

Actually, it's great to have Andy-Handy back. I always had hoped he would be the future Mets second baseman.
