B-Mets Game Notes

LAST GAME:

Binghamton led 3-2 going into the bottom of the
ninth, only to see the game slip away in the last half inning on
a walk-off two-run homer from Ramon Castro, which gave
Connecticut the win 4-3 last night. The B-Mets jumped on the
board in the first inning when Ruben Tejada singled and advanced
to second on an error by leftfielder Bobby Felmy. After
Emmanuel Garcia sacrificed him up to third, Josh Thole drove
him in with a sacrifice fly to center. In the fourth, Binghamton
tallied a pair of runs on a bases-loaded walk issued to starting
pitcher Jenrry Mejia and a two-out RBI single from Garcia off
Defenders starter Geivy Garcia. Mejia allowed his only run of
the game in the bottom of the fourth. After allowing a leadoff
triple to Brad Boyer, Eddy Martinez-Esteve brought him in with
an RBI groundout. Mejia tossed four innings and allowed one
run with four strikeouts. Connecticut got within a run in the
eighth inning when Garcia misplayed a Mike McBryde single in
center, which allowed Brock Bond to score from first. Then in
the ninth, Edgar Alfonzo walked Martinez-Esteve and exited
with two outs handing the ball to Emary Frederick, who gave
up the deep fly on a 2-2 count. Matt Yourkin notched the win
with a third of an inning, finishing the top of the ninth.
