Buffalo Game Notes

TODAY’S GAME:

This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees in the second game of a four-game series at PNC Field (7:05 p.m.). The Yanks struck first with a 1-0 victory last night. Today’s game is part of a season-long nine-game roadtrip for the Herd. After this series, the Bisons will play two in Pawtucket before a three-game series against the Red Wings in Rochester.

vs. THE YANKS:

The Bisons are 3-8 against the Yankees this year. After the Yanks swept a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field from April 13-16, the two clubs have split three straight two-game sets. The Bisons and Yanks still have two more games to play in Buffalo, NY on September 2-3.

NOT SO PETTY:

LHP Adam Pettyjohn is making his fifth start with the Bisons today and sixth overall appearance since joining the team on July 27. The southpaw dominated his last time out, hurling seven innings of shutout baseball on Tuesday in Syracuse. In that outing, Pettyjohn needed just 83 pitches to get through seven innings, with three strikeouts and only five hits allowed. In his three road starts this year, Pettyjohn is 1-1 with a 2.14ERA.

ONE OFF THE TOP:

OF Jesus Feliciano has six hits in his last 12 at-bats. His single last night was his 132nd hit of the season. That total is just one shy of the International League lead, held by Gwinnett’s Barbaro Cannizares and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s Austin Jackson. Feliciano’s .303 batting average is also tied for 7th in the IL. The outfielder also leads the Bisons in runs (51), doubles (28) and stolen bases (12).

IN LIKE A LAMB:

INF Mike Lamb is hitting .313 (26-83) in the month of August. The veteran has eight doubles, a home run, 14RBI and 13 runs scored in only 23 games this month. On the season, the veteran has averaged .330 (31-90) with runners in scoring position.

BULLY FOR THE PEN: RHP

Jim Ed Warden has been a great addition tot he Bisons bullpen. Since his promotion on August 3, the hurler is 1-0 with a 1.59ERA and a save. He’s come in and retired the first batter in all seven of his outings and has amassed 18 strikeouts in only 11.1 innings of work
