Buffalo - Game Notes




TODAY’S GAME:


Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Rochester Red Wings in third game of a five-game in four days series from Coca-Cola Field (7:05p.m.). The teams split a doubleheader last night to open the set. Rochester won game one 8-2 followed by the Bisons winning the night cap, 8-7 in nine innings. On Friday, the Bisons welcome in the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs for a four game set.


vs. THE RED WINGS:


The Herd is 3-5 against Rochester thus far in 2009. After losing the first two games of the season against the Red Wings, the Bisons split a four-game set in Rochester, July 4-6, as well as yesterday’s doubleheader. Eight games remain this year between the thruway rivals, including five straight from August 28-September 1 to finish the season series.


WELCOME BACK:


OF Jason Dubois has joined the Herd after the Mets made a trade with the Chicago Cubs. The outfielder played for the Bisons from 2005-2006 and was the team’s Co-MVP during the ‘06 season (.257, 22HR, 87RBI, 121G). Dubois has spent the entire 2009 season with the Iowa Cubs (PCL) hitting .302, 11HR, 50RBI in 91 games. Last night, the slugger went 1-5 with two hit-by-pitches, an RBI and a walk.


REY TO BE:


INF Argenis Reyes collected a hit in both games last night, extending his hit streak to a personal season-high 10 games. Since August 1, he has averaged .348 (16-46) with two doubles, a triple, six RBI and three runs scored in the stretch. The hit streak has raised Reyes’ season average 16 points from .255 to .271.


WHAM BAM THANK YOU LAMB:


INF Mike Lamb has hit in ten of his last 12 games, with seven multi-hit performances during this stretch. Since July 29, the veteran has averaged .365 (19-52). That includes, six doubles, a home run and eleven RBI. Since the start of July, Lamb has averaged .300 (40-133) with 11 doubles, a triple, two home runs and 18RBI in 37 games.


BISONS BITS:


The Bisons are 12-7 in their last 19 games against IL North division opponents. Their final 31 games are against the IL North...INF Jesus Feliciano’s team-high 120 hits are 3rd in the IL, just 2 behind Scranton/WB’s Austin Jackson...C Robinson Cancel has had back-to-back 3-hit games for Buffalo...The Bisons hit .348 (8-23) with runners in scoring position last night.
