Rochester shortstop Trevor Plouffe started and finished the Red Wings' 6-1 victory over the Buffalo Bisons here Wednesday night at Frontier Field. Plouffe tripled and scored on Luke Hughes' groundout to get the Wings in front in the first inning. Rochester never lost the lead as starter Jeff Manship (1-2), Matt Fox and Kyle Waldrop held the Herd to seven hits and walked none. Plouffe finished things off with a solo home run in the seventh. The only Herd run came on a home run by Chris Carter in the seventh inning. - link
B-Mets:
Less than 24 hours after racking up double-digit runs and hits against Portland, the Binghamton Mets picked up right where they left off Wednesday afternoon, rolling to a 10-4 win over the Sea Dogs at Hadlock Field. The victory ended a seven-game road trip for the B-Mets (8-6), who will open a seven-game home stand Thursday night, when they host New Hampshire at NYSEG Stadium. First baseman Nick Evans, the reigning Eastern League Hitter of the Week, led the latest offensive outburst for Binghamton, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run. He got the scoring started early, doubling home leadoff hitter Kirk Nieuwenhuis for the first of Binghamton's four first-inning runs. - link
Lucy:
The Palm Beach Cardinals scored two runs in the fifth inning to break up a scoreless tie and added three in the sixth to coast to a 5-2 win over the St. Lucie Mets on Wednesday at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter. The Cardinals got two hits from Alex Castellanos and Domnit Bolivar. Jared Bradford (1-1) gave up three hits in 7 1/3 innings. Casey Mulligan got his second save. The Mets scored two runs in the eighth on RBI singles by Jean Luc Baquiere and Matt Bouchard. Eric Campbell had two hits, including a double for the Mets. Robert Carson (0-2) took the loss. - link
