LAST GAME: The B-Mets ended a four-game losing streak with
a convincing 8-3 win over Erie Sunday afternoon at Jerry Uht
Park. Josh Stinson notched his ninth win of the season with
6.2 innings of two-run work (one earned) on five hits. Zach
Lutz provided the pop with a pair of homers and four RBI to
account for half of Binghamton’s runs. Josh Satin ripped a
pair of hits in five trips to the plate to extend his hitting streak
to seven games and Jon Malo joined him with a two-hit showing.
Manuel Alvarez relieved Stinson and worked the final 2.1
innings in one-run fashion to notch his fifth save in as many
chances. The B-Mets blew the game open in the eighth with a
five-run outburst to provide some breathing room. Brahiam
Maldonado fueled the inning with his eighth homer of the
season, a solo shot, and Lutz capped the inning with a threerun
jack to left, his second of the game and 13th of the season.
Brayan Villarreal was solid in the start for the SeaWolves,
but was charged with his second loss despite a quality start of
six innings and two runs allowed.
STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: LHP Mark Cohoon looks to
rebound following his worst start of the 2010 season. He gave
up seven runs (five earned) on eight hits over a season-low
2.2 innings versus Portland July 28, but avoided the loss.
Cohoon is 1-3 with a 7.24 ERA in seven starts (32.1 IP) with
Binghamton. He opened the season with Savannah and
racked up a 7-1 mark and a measly 1.30 ERA over 13 starts
(90.1 IP). His ERA paced the South Atlantic League, as did his
three shutouts. Cohoon was a New York-Penn League All-Star
last season with Brooklyn (SS-A) thanks to a 9-2 record and a
2.15 ERA over 92 innings. The Mets drafted him in the 12th
round of the June 2008 draft out of North Central Texas College.
RHP Brad Peacock will make his second start with the Senators
since joining the team from Potomac (High-A) July 26. In
his Double-A debut July 28 at New Hampshire, he offered up
seven, shutout innings and limited the Fisher Cats high-octane
offense to two hits with five strikeouts in a no-decision. Peacock
made 19 appearances (18 starts) with Potomac opening
the season and carried a 4-9 mark and a 4.44 ERA over
103.1 innings. The right-hander signed as a draft and follow in
2007 after being drafted in the 41st round of the June 2006
draft out of Palm Beach Community College (FL).
