Dessens has appeared to revitalize his career over the past two years with the Mets, but at age 39 he doesn’t have many years left. He should be a piece of the Mets bullpen again next season.

NYDN - If Sandy Alderson becomes the next general manager of the Mets - and at this moment it is hard to imagine a different outcome - his predecessor, Omar Minaya, could be well-positioned to remain active in the organization. According to people close to the team, Minaya's relationship with Fred and Jeff Wilpon remains very strong, despite the owners' decision last Monday to remove Minaya from the position he had held since 2004. On that day, the Wilpons and Minaya met at Citi Field and had a brief and respectful conversation during which Minaya basically agreed that a change was necessary.

MWOB - It took over four hours to complete, but after the subways stopped running the Doosan Bears were victorious with a 9-8 win to take a 2-1 lead in the playoff series. Samsung chased Kim Sun-Woo early to take a 4-0 lead. The Bears bounced back to take a 5-4, then increased it to 6-4. Cho Yeong-hoon hit a solo homer in the eighth to cut the Bears lead to 6-5, then the game was tied at 6-6 after a Park Han-yi RBI double. The Lions then scored two in the eighth on a bases loaded hit batsman and an RBI bunt single to take an 8-6 lead. Doosan didn’t say uncle. They coaxed two walks from Samsung reliever Jeong in-wook, then Lim Jae-cheol doubled to tie the game at 8-8. The Lions drew their infield in but Yang Eui-ji squeezed a single past them to give the Bears the win. Samsung will send out Tim Redding to save them from elimination. The Bears will go with Hong Sang-sam.

ESPN - Los Angeles Dodgers assistant general manager Logan White will be formally interviewed by the New York Mets for their vacant general manager's position on Friday, according to a source with knowledge of the situation who spoke on condition of anonymity. Neither White nor Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti -- who would have had to grant permission for the Mets or any other club to interview White because he is still under contract with the Dodgers -- would confirm White has an interview with the Mets, nor would either of them comment on the matter in any way.
