University of Houston sophomore infielder David Murphy reached a pivotal milestone in his life on Friday. He completed his final treatment for acute lymphoid leukemia at Texas Children’s Hospital. Cougar fans will know that Murphy was diagnosed in September of 2007. He has been receiving treatment ever since and is now in remission. To commemorate the end of this chapter in his life, Murphy was joined by his family and Dr. Zoann Dreyer at Texas Children’s where they presented him with a cake. The Beaumont, Texas, native is entering his sophomore season this spring. He saw limited action since joining the team in the fall of 2007 and was forced to take a redshirt to deal with his treatments. - http://www.collegebaseballdaily.com/2011/01/14/houstons-david-murphy-cancer-treatment/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+CollegeBaseballDaily+%28College+Baseball+Daily%29&utm_content=Twitter

Jackie Bradley Jr., South Carolina - The Gamecocks have a true All-American player in Bradley Jr. The talented outfielder is expected to be one of the top position players in the MLB draft this summer, and his contributions his first two seasons helped the program build toward a national title. Bradley was consistent at a sophomore last season, hitting .368 with 12 doubles, a triple, 13 homers and 60 RBIs. He also slugged .587 and had a .473 on-base percentage. Look for Bradley to have his most productive campaign this season. http://www.tossitaround.com/baseball-news/college/14402.html
(Sonny) Gray is currently (as of 1-13-11) listed as my 10th best overall draft-eligible prospect. I have profiled Gray several times before, including his days spent in college when he was a talented two-sport star that led his school to a state championship in football as a quarterback. His value is on the mound, and despite some speculation that he will eventually land in the bullpen due to his smallish stature, he throws in the 90-94 range quite easily, touching 97 while also throwing a hammer curveball that sits in the low-80s. I've compared him to Ben Sheets in the past, as I did in the report as linked above largely due to a similar potentially dominant two-pitch mix. Although Gray is a much better overall athlete. - http://www.5tooltalk.com/2011-feature-youtubeclips.html

Players are 2011 prospects: - 2. 1B Dan Vogelbach (Fort Myers, FL): The ball makes a different sound when it comes off the big first baseman’s wood bat. His 400’ opposite field blast in batting practice was fun to watch.
