Pittsburgh – RHP Gerrit Cole (1st) – only one pick, but it was the first one as well as the right one – A
San Diego – 2B Cory Spangenberg (10th), RHP Joe Ross (25th), RHP Michael Kelly (48th), C Brett Austin (54th), SS Jace Peterson (58th) – you would have thought that there would be at least one marquee name if you had five picks on the opening day – C
San Francisco – SS Joe Panik (29th), RHP Kyle Crick (49th) – Panik went around where it was suspected but Crickwas a stetch – C
Seattle – LHP Danny Hultzen (2nd) – only had one early pick and did well by it – A
St. Louis – 2B Kolton Wong (22nd) – this was an excellent pickat 22nd – A
Tampa Bay – RHP Taylor Guerrieri (24th), OF Mike Mahtook (31st), SS Jake Hager (32nd), SS Brandon Martin (38th), 3B Tyler Goeddel (41st), RHP Jeff Ames, LHP Blake Snell (52nd), OF Kes Carter (56th), LHP Grayson Garvin (59th), OF James Harris (60th) – TB got off to a great start with Guerrieri and Mahtook, but then seemed to just draft filler. Six high schoolers – C
Texas – LHP Kevin Mathews (33rd), OF Zach Cone – picked one of my local boys, but both picks were stretches – C
Toronto – RHP Tyler Beede (21st), OF Jacob Anderson (35th), RHP Joe Musgrove (46th), OF Dwight Smith (53rd), RHP Kevin Comer. – I like Smith but frankly, except for Beede, they are a ll a stretch – C+
Washington – 3B Anthony Rendon (6th), RHP Alex Meyer (23rd), OF Brian Goodwin (34th) – the Nats are going to have one hell of a team soon – A+
