2013 Draft-Notes - Hunter Lenke, Parker Ray, Sean Manaea, PG Notes, CC Notes

RHP Hunter Lemke, Texas State -- The talented right-hander had a 1.25 ERA for the Bobcats this past spring. He had an equally impressive summer, making 23 appearances, recording 12 saves and tallying a 1.48 ERA in 24 1/3 innings of work. HE also struck out 34 and walked four, while teams hit him at a .233 clip. PG

Matt Garrioch‏ -  Nice downhill plane from Trey Ball at 92..Chris Rivera really smoked it up the middle. Not sure where he fits. 2B?... Ok breaking ball from Ball. Not stellar but he can spin it… Jeremy Martinez will need to watch his body but he can really hit…. I really liked Kevin Franklin at PG National but he looked overmatched there. Only one AB… Nick Ciuffo impressing behind the dish with intelligence, blocking ability and a solid arm… Trey Ball is a projectable lefty. If he gains a couple ticks next spring, he could go very high… Ian Clarkin..wow, that's impressive. 93 right by Sandberg after a nasty breaking ball… I really like Jan Hernandez. Really like him. Have been impressed every time I've seen him… Travis Demeritte with a nice liner to RF. Solid AB. Nice hustle by Dom Smith to almost make the play.
Prep Baseball Report‏ -  PA: Jextin Pugh, the No. 3 ranked player in the Class of 2013, has committed to Binghamton University. Pugh will be a two-way player…
Kendall Rogers‏ -  Had one Cape Cod coach tell me today that Indiana State's Sean Manaea the best arm he's seen there in five years. Wow…
PGCBL -  Congratulations to the 2012 PGCBL baseball Player of the Year Ross Kivett (Kansas State)…
Frankie Piliere   - For a guy who has played here a short time Danny Diekroeger has impressed me. Consistent, hard contact…
Jason Cole‏ -  John Curtiss out for the 2013 season after undergoing TJ surgery… Inconsistent last yr but saw him up to 97 in relief
RHP Parker Ray, Texas A&M -- Ray just occasionally factored into the equation for the Aggies this past spring, but his role certainly is expected to increase in 2013, especially after the summer he put together. Ray appeared in 17 games, recorded five saves and had a 1.82 ERA in 29 2/3 innings of work. He also struck out 58 and walked 21, while teams hit him at a .143 clip. http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=7522
1- Sean Manaea LHP Indiana State- I don’t think he will be the 2013 version of Georgia Southern RHP Chris Beck (who also shined in the Cape) because the stuff is just to good. The lefty dominated the Cape this summer flashing a 95-96 mph fastball with a 5-1 record and a 1.22 e.r.a and a 87/7 k/bb ratio in 53 innings. He broke the single season strikeout record pitching for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks. A 6-5 lefty at a non traditional baseball school at Indiana State he has been very good as a Sycamore going 5-3 with a 3.34 e.r.a in 12 including 115 K’s in 105 IP. He has a solid pitchers build as he is long and lean. He was not a highly recruited P out of HS, in fact Indiana State was the only school that recruited him so his story is similar to Stephen Strasburg. http://pinetarpress.com/top-11-2013-draft-august-15th-2012/
