An OF for $8MM is Not quite outside the relm of possibility for the Mets....with the deferred Jason Bay money and of course the deferred Bobby Bonilla money, the Mets payroll now stands at $81.95 post forecasted arbitration (assuming Pelf, Torres, Acosta and Lewis are non-tendered).
So this leaves about $18MM to be used on free agents for the 2013 season which me personally think it should be used to bolster the bullpen on 2 yr deals and on a new catcher. The OF market just isn't that good this season.
For RF I'd target Nate Schierholtz who is regarded as a great defensive player, strong arm, gap to gap hitter without much power.
Interesting...
ReplyDeleteAre there two teams playing in Toronto because there sure seems to be enough players up there.
They sign Melky... we sign Brian Bixler.
Sounds like a Mets day to me...
Nothing is changing...
ReplyDeleteAt this point, they have to trade Dickey if this is what Melky can get. They could never afford a decent outfielder.

I'm really down to waiting to see what they do...
ReplyDeleteI just don't see anything concrete coming from this off season.
