Mack Ade – Morning Report – 4-10-13
It was an honor being linked to MetsBlog yesterday… thanks
Matt and Michael!
Fans… regarding your parent team…
-This
is what the season is going to be like… some wins, more losses.
-I’m
starting to think that Jordany Valdespin should
bat first and play somewhere. Juan Marichal is
retired so all the pitchers should be safe.
-I
would move Dillon Gee down to SP5 and take some
of the pressure off him following the top two arms. Make Laffey the SP3 so we
can get over that.
-I
would keep Murphy in the 2-hole. The only chance this team has is a 2-6 of
Murphy, Wright, Davis, Buck, Duda.
-Use
Baxter and Turner as late inning relief only.
-Stop
using Edgin so early. Establish him as your 8th inning guy… now.
-Send Jack Leathersich to Queens… yesterday.
-Put
some Vicks on Marcum’s neck.
-Open
up the direct channels with North Korea… err… Miami for Stanton. Let them ask
for both d’Arnaud and Wheeler. Tell them to pick one and build a package from
there.
-While
you’re at it, send the word out that Wilmer Flores is available for a AAA-AA
starter or outfielder.
-Other
than that, hold the course. Losing a top prospect for Stanton should be the
only move. It will get better, but not until after the all-star break. John
Buck will get you a top outfield prospect. Rafael Montero should be ready ST
2014. ‘Leather’ will dominate out of the pen.
C Josh Thole is hitting .385
in Buffalo. Mike Nickeas is hitting .143
R. A. Dickey - 8.44 ERA
R. A. Dickey - 8.44 ERA
Mets infield prospect Wilmer Flores continues
to be (a) entirely young for his levels and (b) the boss of the strike zone. - link

Let’s take a closer look at SP Matt
Bowman. He finished up his second start Wednesday night and now has a
stat line of: 1-0, 1.59, 1.24, 11.1-IP, 9-K, 3-BB. Matt’s a Princeton guy who
was picked in the 13th round of the 2012 draft. He held his own last
season in Brooklyn, going 2-2, 2.45, in 12-appearances, 1-start. He also had
30-K in 29.1-IP which is impressive at any level. He did start for three years
in college, but it was his K/9 that impressed the Mets more than his ERA. He
sits 88-91, and can hit 94. In addition, there is a workable changeup and
slider. I have to say I was surprised he made the Sand Gnats rotation this
season. He must have had a great spring training.
Pedro Lopez on his managerial
approach in Binghamton in 2013:
Along with the new faces, Lopez
vows to have a new approach. “Probably at the end of the year they’re going to
hate me,” said Lopez, who led St. Lucie to the Florida State League
championship series in 2011. “But guess what? If that means they’re going to
get to the big leagues, so be it.” - link
Was happy to see you linked on Metsblog. The extra hits are well deserved.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree on Stanton. Can't trade wheeler and TDA. If the price is one plus some lower level guys I'd drive him up from Miami myself.
Mack,
ReplyDeleteThere will be a long line of suitors when Stanton goes to bidding. Mets will not be able to compete with teams like Texas, Seattle, and St. Louis should the want in. I agree on Spin, as Mets badly need a leadoff hitter. I know he is green in CF but his athleticism should allow him to be serviceable.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you.
We won't get close to Stanton
If we're going to trade one of our top two it's got to be Wheeler and not d'Arnaud. We can survive loosing Wheeler because of our quality prospect depth of SPs but we need our franchise catcher.
