Mets Minor League Report – May 19

Savannah (24-17) outlasts Augusta (24-18) in slugfest 12-10.
Savannah starter Luis Cessa got bombed, allowing 6 ER on 11 hits (2 of them HRs) and a walk in 5.0 innings. He was fortunate to survive with a no-decision.
Reliever Tyler Vanderheiden (W, 2-0) pitched 2.0 innings, allowing a walk and a hit. Unfortunately, the hit was a home run. Nonetheless, he earned the win. He was followed by Hunter Carnavale, who was tagged for 3 ER on 4 H in 1 inning. Beck Wheeler (S, 3) came in to pitch the 9th, earning his 3rd save, although he gave up a hit and a walk.
Newly activated catcher Nelfi Zapata went 2-3 with a HR. He had 5 RBI and 2 R.
Jeff Reynolds was 4-4 with a 2B, BB, 2 RBI, R.
Center fielder Eudy Pina had a 3 RBI day, while going 1-6 with a 2B.
Maikis De La Cruz was moved down from leadoff to 3rd in the batting order, and went 2-5 with a walk and a run.
Cole Frenzel (2-4) and Stefan Sabol (2-3 with a 2B) both scored 3 runs.

Bradenton (17-26) crushes St Lucie (24-17) 8-1.
Starter Hansel Robles (L, 3-2) was nicked for 4 ER on 4 H (HR) and 3 BB while striking out 6 in 4.0 innings.
Releiver Carlos Vazquez pitched 3 scoreless innings, allowing 3 H with 2 K.
Wanel Mesa came in for the bottom of the 8th, but got only 2 outs while allowing 4 ER on 1 H (a GSHR) and 3 BBs. Hamilton Bennett came in to get the final out, but not before loading the bases on a walk and an infield hit.
Not enough offense for highlights!

Binghamton (24-19) stings Portland (24-17) 8-5.
Starter Cory Mazzoni (W, 2-1) was not sharp, but got the W, allowing 5 ER on 10 H and a BB in his 6.2 IP.
Reliever John Church pitched 1.2 perfect innings with 2 K, to earn a hold.
Potential closer Jack Leathersich (S, 2) pitched a perfect 9th inning, although he only struck out 1 batter. Leather must have been slightly off his game. Or perhaps he is more focused on his command and less concerned about all those Ks.
Cesar Puello continues hot, going 3-5, with 2 R and a SB. Puello now has his AVG up over .300
Cory Vaughn: 2-5, RBI, R. Vaughn is also hitting over .300 now.
Joe Bonfe: 4-4, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R, with a SB.

Las Vegas (20-21) bows to Omaha (21-20) 4-3.
Starter Chris Schwinden came out of the game after only 4.0 innings allowing 2 ER, 3 H, (HR) BB, with 5 K.
Justin Hampson pitched a perfect inning, but Armando Rodriguez (BS, 2)(L, 1-1) allowed 2 ER on 4 H and a 2 BB, to take the loss.
Wilmer Flores: 1-4, HR, RBI, R.
Zach Lutz: 2-4.
