Savannah (26-19) bests Augusta (26-20) 3-1.
Savannah starter Robert Gsellman (W, 2-1) sparkled for 7.0 innings, giving up 1 R, on 3 H and 1 BB, while striking out 3, for the win.
Reliever Paul Sewald pitched a perfect 8th inning and Bret Mitchell earned his 9th save, allowing only 1 hit in a scoreless 9th inning.
Jayce Boyd resumed his hitting ways going 2-4, with a 2B and 2 RBI.
Kevin Plawecki was 1-4, with a 2B to maintain his league leading AVG at .361.
St Lucie (26-19) smacks Dunedin (26-18) 8-5.
Jenrry Mejia (no decision) pitched well enough to win. In 5.0 innings he allowed 2 R, on 5 H, and a BB, with 8 K. Unfortunately, Randy Fontanez (BS, 2) (W, 3-2) also allowed 2 R to blow the save in his 3.0 innings of work, but was still pitching when Lucie scored 5 runs in the top of the 8th to regain the lead and give him the win.
Aderlin Rodriguez was the offensive hero, going 2-5 with a HR, 4 RBI, and 2 R.
New Britain (22-25) blanks Binghamton (25-21) 1-0.
Those who savor a good pitcher’s duel would have loved this one.
Starter Mark Cohoon (L, 3-2) pitched a complete game (8 innings), allowing 1 R on 6 H, and 1 BB, with 7 K. He was outpitched (but only slightly) by Rock Cats’ starter, Logan Darnell, who also went 8 innings with 6 H and 1 BB. The difference in the game was a solo home run.
Cesar Puello went 1-3, to keep his AVG above .300. He is hitting .304.
Cory Vaughn was 1-4, keeping his AVG at an even .300.
Iowa (19-25) blanks Las Vegas (21-24) 4-0
51’s starter Matt Fox (L, 1-1) took the loss, allowing 3 ER on 7 H (1 HR) and 2 BB, striking out 2.
