LAST GAME: The B-Mets collected a season-high 15 hits and Rafael Montero fired seven shutout innings in a 6-0 win over New Hampshire Saturday night. Against Ryan Tepera, Binghamton jumped on top early.Cory Vaughn got things going in the first with an RBI double to right field. In the second, Danny Muno hit a two-run home run to put Binghamton up 3-0. Muno later added another run with an RBI single in the fifth. The scoring ended in the eighth inning when Vaughn hit a solo home run. Montero moved to 6-3 on the season, and has put together two consecutive scoreless outings. Chase Huchingson finished the contest with two scoreless innings of relief.

BINGHAMTON STARTING PITCHER: RHP Jacob deGrom makes his ninth start of the season for the B-Mets, and his first against New Hampshire. The righty is 0-3 with an 8.04 ERA on the road this season, and has allowed 16 runs in 15.2 innings pitched. In his last outing, he received a no-decision on May 27 against Portland. He gave up two runs (one earned) on eight hits over six innings. He also struck out nine in a game Binghamton would eventually win, 6-5. deGrom has lost five of his first six decisions, and Binghamton is 2-6 in his starts. Opponents are hitting .311 against him in 2013. deGrom was picked by the Mets in the ninth round of the 2010 draft out of Stetson University.

NEW HAMPSHIRE STARTING PITCHER: LHP Sean Nolin makes his fifth start of the season for the Fisher Cats. He has won his only two decisions, and has given up four earned runs in 20.1 innings on the mound. He was called up for one start with the Blue Jays on May 24 against Baltimore. The southpaw gave up six earned runs in just 1.1 innings. In Double-A, opponents are hitting .243 against him. Against Portland in his last start, he allowed two runs in five innings in a no-decision. Sunday will be his second start of the season at home. Sean was drafted by the Blue Jays in the sixth round of the 2010 draft out of San Jacinto College North (Houston, TX). He was also selected in the 2008 and 2009 drafts but did not sign.

DIVISION LEAD: The B-Met’s win on Saturday jumped them into sole possession of first place in the Eastern Division. They have had at least a share of the division lead since 5/27. Entering Sunday’s play, they sit 1.0 games ahead of Portland and Trenton.

SNAPPING OUT OF IT: After 24 straight hitless at-bats, Danny Muno went 3-for-5 in Saturday’s win. He hit his second home run of the season, and drove in three runs for the first time since 4/18 @ NH. Since moving to the leadoff spot in the batting order, Muno is batting .185 (12-for-65). Despite a .210 batting average, his on-base percentage is .353 because of the 37 walks he has collected.

SETTING UP THE RUBBER MATCH: Sunday’s rubber match will be Binghamton’s sixth of the 2013 season. They are 3-2 in those games. A win would give Binghamton their third consecutive series win. A loss would hand Binghamton their first series loss since 5/6 - 8 @ Trenton.

WALK THIS WAY: The three players with the most walks in the league are all on the B-Mets. Josh Rodriguez leads the league with 38. Allan Dykstra and Danny Muno are tied for second with 37. As a team, Binghamton ranks seventh with 209 BB.

RODRIGUEZ’S STREAK: Josh Rodriguez now has a season-long hitting streak of 18 games. During the streak, he is hitting .426 (29-for-68). The streak is the longest by anyone in the league this season, and the longest hitting streak by a B-Met since Juan Lagares hit safely in 19 consecutive games from 8/7/11 - 8/30/11.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets head back home after this series against the Fisher Cats. After an off day on Monday, they welcome in the Trenton Thunder for a three-game series at NYSEG Stadium It will be the second series of the season between these two teams, and first pitch on Tuesday is at 6:35 PM.
