Mack's Mets - Draft Day Primer

Hey everybody, I'm Mack and welcome to Draft Day One on Mack's Mets.

We'll be having our normal extended coverage of the draft here, something that started back when I wrote for the now defunct www.flushinguniversity.com  site (Jack Flynn was with me over there) and eventually added it to this site that was first established as an exclusive Mets Minor League site in 2005.

It's not anymore and, frankly, I'm not sure who was the first. I'm told it was either Brian Hoch, Mike from www.mikesmets.com  (another long lost site), or me, but who really cares anymore, right? There are plenty of sites doing fine work now and the important thing to you, the Mack's Mets reader, is you will get all you need here in the proper amount of time.

We completed our year long "Draft 13" series of nightly posts on 4-5 top players available for the draft yesterday, posted out last mock, and broke out the top players available by position.

IMPORTANT - I have an excel sheet that ranks all the top players, by positions, for the draft. Email me before it starts tonight at macksmets@gmail.com and I'll send it to you. I like to color code it in as picks are made, but that's just me :)

As in the past, we will post up comprehensive information on each of the Mets picks over the next three days. Feel free to visit the zillions of Mets sites that now do their version, but, rest assured, you can stay here too and all the information will be available to you over the next three days. No one will play an inning until I am done posting :)

Today, there will be two picks during the coverage that begins at 7pm. I'll have a post on each up tonight plus my opinion on the Mets choice. The other MMs writers here will also join in and offer their opinions as I hope some of you will too.

Tomorrow will encompass pick #74 through the 10th round, which will begin at 12:30pm. I have to be at the Veteran's Administration at 8am for tests. It also is my 43rd wedding anniversary and I plan to take my wife  to lunch on one of the outer islands east of Beaufort, SC. My guess is I'll be home and online around 2pm latest and I'll quickly catch up.

Saturday's is hell's bells with rounds 11-50.

I have a lot of this information already downloaded, but, I will probably post up two or three items per player for your immediate perusal. I will then go back and add more as time allows. Day One is easy. Day Two gets a little more difficult but I can keep up with the picks. But, Day Three will take some time and may run deep into the night.

Every post will be immediately posted. I ask that all the writers here also immediately post up anything they write during these three days. I also will keep an eye out on what is sent to me regarding the Mets to post up.

Last year, Sportsspyder and Blogger shut me down on two of the days because I posted too many posts. Go figure.

These are the days I live for :)
