Tuesday night the Mets scored 7 times in the bottom of a
rain delayed 7th inning as
they beat the Dbacks 9-1. Jeremy
Hefner started for the Mets and continued to pitch impressive baseball. Hef
went 7 innings, he allowed just 4 hits 1 run (earned) he walked 2 and struck
out 6. The only blemish was a solo homer by Martin Prado (#7th) in
the top of the 7th inning.
Hefner gets the win and is now 3-6 on the year. Offensively for the Mets a good night all
around. The Mets pumped out 12 hits as
every starter in the game got at least 1 hit on the night. In that big 7th
inning, the Mets broke the 1-all tie on a Josh Satin double before a rain
delay. After the hour and forty-one minute delay Anthony Recker, Omar
Quintanilla, Eric Young Jr and Juan Legares all drove in runs breaking the
game wide open. Recker went 2 for 4 on
the night with his 3rd homer and 2 ribbies. Omar Quintanilla added an rbi
single in the 8th, he had 2
hits and 3 rbi on the game, Young had 2 rbi. Josh Satin now has an 8
game hitting streak. The 7 run inning was the Mets biggest inning in 2 years.
The Mets also, broke their streak of 30 straight home games (going back to
April 24th) where they failed to score more than 5 runs. That streak
tied a national league record, but is now history. With the win the Mets now
stand at 35-45 on the season and now 17-25 in Flushing. Wednesday night it’s
the 3rd game of this 4 game set. Matt Harvey (7-1 2.00) goes for the Mets, Randall Delgado (0-2 4.05) goes for Arizona. – Craig Mitchell https://www.facebook.com/MetsForum
