August 7th - Mets 5, Rockies 0

August 7thWednesday night Matt Harvey went the distance on a 4 hit shutout while Wilmer Flores broke out with his first 2 Major League hits and 3 rbi, the Mets blank the Rockies 5-0.  Harvey was on…scattering the 4 hits…walking none and striking out 6. Harvey “pitched to contact” and was brilliant. He was never in trouble and he gets the win he’s now 9-3, his era falls to 2.09 tossing just 106 pitches during the outing.  Omar Quintanilla made it 1-zip in the bottom of the 2nd with an rbi single scoring Flores from second.  In the 4th John Buck hit an rbi double scoring Ike Davis to make it 2-nothing. Then in the 8th Wilmer Flores, whose first major league single came in the bottom of the 2nd, hit a three run double scoring Juan Lagares, Marlon Byrd and Ike Davis making it 5-0 Mets and capping the scoring. Jhoulys Chacin started for the Rockies and pitched well in the losing cause going 7 innings, allowing 7 hits allowing 2 runs (both earned) walking 1 and striking out 5. He took the loss falling to 10-6. The Mets now stand at 51-60 on the year and 24-32 at home. Thursday it’s an afternoon affair at Citi….Dillon Gee (7-8  3.97) looks to even his record and looks clinch the series for the Mets. https://www.facebook.com/MetsForum
