Mets Minor League Report – August 7
MML Players of the Day – Aug. 7: Binghamton SS Wilfredo Tovar & DSL Mets2 SP Scarlin Reyes
Las Vegas – not scheduled.
Altoona (54-61) nips Binghamton (72-44) 5-4.
Erik Goeddel (L, 9-5) loses a tough one. 6.0 IP, 3 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 5 K.
Armando Rodriguez gave up just enough in the top of the 7th so that the B-Mets comeback in the bottom of the 7th fell 1 run short: 1.0 IP. 2 R, 3H.
Chase Hutchingson (0 H, 0 BB, K) and Chasen Bradford (H, 0 BB) each pitched a scoreless inning, which is getting to be a habit with these two end-of-game relievers. Hutchingson, in 39 appearances – 57.2 IP with Binghamton, has his ERA down to 1.72. Bradford has only pitched in 10 games for Bingo since his promotion from St. Lucie, but in 13.1 IP his ERA is 0.68.
Wilfredo Tovar: 2-4, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 2 R.
Cory Vaughn homered for the 2nd straight night: 1-4.
Bradenton (42-68) bags St Lucie (60-48) 8-5.
Domingo Tapia (L, 2-8) is losing his luster. He only lasted 1.1 innings: 7 R, 4 H, 4 BB, 2 K.
Bret Mitchell and Randy Fontanez each pitched a perfect inning at the end of the game. Too little, too late.

Tyler Vanderheiden (BS, 3) (L, 4-2) is also roughed up: 1.0 IP, 3 R, 2 H, (HR) BB, K.
Wanel Mesa, however, is effective: 3.0 IP, 0 R, 2 H, BB, 2 K.
Brandon Nimmo: 3-5, 2B, 2 RBI, R.
Maikis De La Cruz: 1-5, 2B, RBI, 2 R.
Brooklyn (24-24) edges Connecticut (21-28) 4-3.

David Wynn also pitched well (2.2 IP, R, 0 ER, H, 2 K) but Paul Paez (W, 2-1) was called in to get the final out in the 8th inning , and got the W compliments of Brooklyn’s 2 run bottom of the 8th. It pays to be in the right place at the right time.
John Mincone (S, 6) showed his stuff: 1.0 IP, 0 R, H, 0 BB, K.
Jonathan Clark: 2-4, RBI, R.
Kingsport (26-19) downs Pulaski (30-16) 7-4 .

Starter Juan Martes holds the Rojos scoreless on 1 H and 1 BB for 6.0 innings.
Gregorix Estevez pitched a perfect 7th inning.
Disaster strikes when Enmanuel Berihuete (L, 0-1) allows 4 R on only 1 H and 2 BB while getting only 1 out in the top of the 8th. He is tagged with the loss when he is relieved by Jean Alvarez (BS, 1) who walks in a runner charged to Berihuete: Alvarez’s line: R, 4 BB, in 0.2 IP.
