LAST GAME: The Akron Aeros took an early lead and never looked back as they defeated the B-Mets, 6-2 in the series finale on Sunday afternoon in Akron. Greg Peavey allowed three runs in each of the first two innings, but settled down after that. The righty retired 15 of his final 16 batters, including 12 straight to cap his outing. Offensively, Wilfredo Tovar scored both of the B-Met runs. In the second Blake Forsythe knocked him in with a single, and in the fifth he scored on a wild pitch. Peavey threw 6.0 innings and was tagged with the loss, and Chase Huchingson threw two scoreless innings of relief. That was the final game of the season against the Aeros.

BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Noah Syndergaard makes his 11th start of the season for the B-Mets and first against the Baysox. This will be his first start since August 16 vs. New Britain; he was skipped the last time through the rotation due to an innings cap placed on the righty. He beat the Rock Cats in his last start after throwing five shutout innings. Since allowing a first inning solo home run on July 28 vs. Trenton, Syndergaard has not allowed a run over his last 20.0 innings. In 51.0 innings with Binghamton, he has 64 strikeouts and a .202 batting average against. He began the season with St. Lucie (High-A) and went 3-3 with a 3.11 ERA while being named to the FSL All-Star Game. He was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the first (supplemental) round of the 2010 draft out of HS (TX).

BOWIE STARTER: LHP Eduardo Rodriguez makes his 10th start of the season for the Baysox and his second consecutive against the B-Mets. On August 20, he got a no-decision after allowing one run over six innings. Bowie would go on to win that game, 4-1. In 45.2 innings pitched with Bowie, opponents are hitting .260 against him. He has 48 strikeouts, and 23 walks. Rodriguez made 14 starts to start the season with the Frederick Keys (High-A). The lefty went 6-4 with a 2.85 ERA in 85.1 innings. He was signed by the Orioles as a non-drafted free agent in January 2010.

AKRON SERIES: Binghamton lost three of the four games against the Akron Aeros. That was their seventh series loss this season, and first since 7/28 - 8/1 vs. Altoona. In all three of their losses, Akron scored in the first inning and never trailed. The series was the first four-game series that Binghamton has lost. They have either split or won each of the previous 10 four-game sets (6-0-4).

YOUTH ON THE MOUND: Tonight’s pitching matchup is between two highly-touted, 20-year-old pitching prospects. Eduardo Rodriguez is the third-youngest player in the Eastern League, and Syndergaard is the seventh-youngest. Akron’s Francisco Lindor is the youngest player in the league, at 19 years old.

POWER OUTAGE:  In the four-game set against Akron, Binghamton did not hit any home runs. Of their 28 hits, only three of them went for extra bases.

CONSISTENT STARTERS: Binghamton’s starting pitchers have thrown at least 5.0 innings in each of the last 15 games. Over the last 28 games, the starter has lasted 5.0 innings in 27 of them.

AUGUST PITCHING NUMBERS: Despite a league-worst .226 team batting average in August, Binghamton is 15-9 during this month. The pitching staff has led the way, posting a league-best 2.55 ERA in the month. 15 wins this month are tied with Richmond for the most of any team in the league.

AGAINST BOWIE: This will be the third and final series between Binghamton and Bowie. Binghamton went 4-2 in two series at NYSEG Stadium (2-1 each time). Monday is the first game at Prince George’s Stadium for the B-Mets this season.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: Binghamton continues their four-game series against the Baysox on Tuesday night at 7:05 PM. Binghamton will send RHP Logan Verrett to the mound against RHP Tyler Wilson for the Baysox.
