Mets Crush Tampa 10-4 


PORT ST. LUCIE, FLA. — Dustin Lawley homered twice and drove in five runs and the Mets had a five-run first inning as they cruised past the Tampa Yankees 10-4.

Jon Niese pitched four scoreless innings on a major league rehab assignment and allowed two hits while walking one and striking out four. Niese tossed 50 pitches and 32 for strikes.

Lawley hit a two-run homer in the first to give the Mets the lead. The Mets scored five times with two outs in the first inning. Matt Reynolds had a bases loaded two-run single and Robbie Shields added an RBI single.

Lawley launched a three-run home run to left in the second to extend the lead in 8-0. Lawley leads the Florida State League with 23 home runs and 82 RBIs.

T.J. Rivera went 4-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. Lucas Duda went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI double on his fourth game with St. Lucie on a major league rehab assignment.

Hansel Robles picked up the win despite allowing four runs(two earned) on six hits in four innings while striking out four.

 Cody Satterwhite struck out the side in the ninth inning to finish off the Yankees.

The Mets will host the Clearwater Threshers on Friday, August 1 at Tradition Field at 6:30 p.m.  Alex Panteliodis will be on the mound for the Mets.

  1. There could be 2 100 RBI guys in the Mets system this year-I can't remember if that ever happened before. Maybe 1982 with Barry Lyons and Darryl Strawberry?
