Las Vegas holds on to beat Salt Lake 3-2 in this critical Game 3.

With their backs to the wall trailing 2 games to none in this 5 game semi final, Las Vegas must win this game and the next 2 in order to get to the PCL finals.

 

Giancarlo Alvarado is fortunate to allow only 1 run: 5.2 IP, R, 5 H, 5 BB, 4 K.

Hamilton Bennett (W, 1-0) gets the W after coming in to get one batter out in the 6th inning.

Chris Schwinden follows: 1.1 IP, R, 3 H, 0 BB, 2 K.

Corey Wade (S, 1) gets a 5 out save: 0 R, H, BB, 2 K.

 

Dustin Lawley: 3-4, HR, RBI, R.

Ruben Tejada: 1-3, RBI.

Brandon Hicks: 0-2, 2 R.

 

 

Trenton baffles Binghamton 3-0, eliminating them in a 3 game sweep.

Logan Verrett: (L 0-1) 6.0 IP, 3 R, 2 ER, 8 H, BB, 5 K.

 

Danny Muno: 2-4, BB.

Josh Rodriguez: 2-5.

Rhyne Hughes: 3-5, 2B.

 

Savannah stifles Augusta 5-0, wins semi final series 2 games to none.

With the win, our beloved Sand Gnats move into the Championship Round against Northern Division winners, West Virginia.

An absolutely magnificent 1 hit performance by Steven Matz: (W, 1-0) 7.0 IP, 0 R, H, 0 BB, 8 K.

Relievers, Paul Sewald (H, K) and Beck Wheeler (perfection with 2 K) are also impressive, each with an inning of work.

 

The first 3 hitters in the Sand Gnats lineup do all the damage.

Eudy Pina: 2-3, 3B, 3 R.

Brandon Nimmo: 2-3, 3B, BB, 3 RBI.

Maikis De La Cruz: 1-4, 3B, 2 RBI.
