September 11th - Nats 3, Mets 0
Wednesday night in Flushing, The Mets only managed three hits against Dan Haren and the Nationals bullpen as they lose 3-0. The Mets lack of offense saddled Zach Wheeler with the impossible task of trying to be perfect, he wasn’t but he was in good form. Wheeler pitched 7 strong innings; his only mistake came in the top of the 6th when Ryan Zimmerman connected for his 22nd homer of the year to make it 1-zip Nationals. Wheeler left after seven allowing 8 hits, the 1 run, he walked 1 and struck out 6. Haren who was knocked around by the Mets in their last meeting got some revenge going 6 innings and only allowing a single by Juan Legares leading off the 4th. Vic Black relieved Wheeler in the 8th and the Nats got to Black for 3 hits, highlighted by a 2 run double by Anthony Rendon and that was all she wrote. Legares added a bunt single in the 9th, the other hit for the Mets was a single in the 7th inning by Josh Satin. In his first game back with the big club Ruben Tejada went 0-3. Wheeler is the hard luck loser falling to 7-5 on the season. In the loss his era managed to fall to 3.22. Haren picks up his 9th win. The Mets are now 64-80 on the season and 28-41 on their home turf. Thursday afternoon the Mets look to salvage at split of the 4 game set.
