-Loved the lineup… it’s time to start
playing the ‘real’ team and letting these guys get used to playing and hitting
next to each other
-Dice-K opened the game… shaky start… Jhonny Peralta entered this game hitting .429 (ugh)…
7.71 ERA after 0.2-IP… Mejia fans doing the wave… give Ruben
Tejada his defensive kudos this inning… great range… Daniel Murphy’s error in the second didn’t help the
cause and resulted in 2nd run… lot’ of ‘extra outs’ in inning due to
Murph, Grandy, and ball hitting umpire… escapes bases loaded with Peralta
fly-out… 0-2 (1-ER) after 2.0-IP…
-John Lannan continues
to make a strong case for both the SP5 slot, but also a lefty coming out of the
pen
-Two more errors (Andrew Brown, Ruben Tejada) creates two more unearned
runs for Rafael Montero… Tejada having a rough
first game, sort of like Murph today… let’s give this 5-6 games to settle in
and not panic.
-Rafael Montero keeps
impressing…
-Another quality inning (3-K) from Steven Matz, though it was against the opponent’s ‘B’
lineup.
The game ended 5-5 because the Mets
scrubs played better than their counterparts, but the game was lost because of
lousy ‘D’ from rusty regulars. Is this a problem on 3-7 when your 3Bman and
2Bman played their first game and your SS is just back from an injury?
Let me put it this way… it WILL be a
problem if it happens on 4-1.
Is it just me, or is it kinda sad to know that there is a possibility of Montero, Thor and degrom all throwing shutouts the entire spring, only to then pack their shit and head to the desert....................
ReplyDeletePart of me feels like management would almost be hoping that they would at least give up a run or two......lol...........
Its all still great news long term, but still....
I've never seen this before in the 50+ games I have covered this game.
