Tuesday night at Citi Field Adam Wainwright was dominant
through 7 as the Cards blanked the Mets 3-0. Dillon Gee pitched well enough to
win on any other night but was the victim of the shut out. Gee had a 10 inning
scoreless streak snapped in the top of the 4th. The Cardinals at one point had the bases
loaded and no outs, but somehow Gee was able to get out of the inning only yielding
a pair of runs on a 2 run single by Jon Jay.
Matt Holliday drove in the final run with an rbi single in the top of
the ninth off Jose Valverde. Gee went 6 he allowed 6 hits 2 runs both earned,
walked 2 and struck out 4. The Mets only
managed 4 hits on the night, all singles by Eric Young Jr., Lucas Duda, Daniel
Murphy and Chris Young. David Wright had his 12 game hitting streak snapped. Curtis Granderson went hitless in 3 at bats
and is now hitless in his last 22 at bats. Holliday led the way for the Cards going 3 for
4. Wainwright got the win improving to 4-1 while he did leave the game after
only 79 pitches with a minor leg injury. Gee took the loss he’s now 1-1. The Mets are now back at .500 at 10-10. The
own a 4-7 record at home. Wednesday night the Mets look to clinch at least a
split of the 4 game series as Jon Niese (0-2
2.84) looks for his first win. Michael Wacha (2-1 1.73) goes for the
Cards.
my mantra... Mets hold team to 3 runs... lose with no bats
ReplyDeleteIn a world not restricted by rules and contracts, I'd send down Duda, grandy, Tejada and Kirk and recall Dykstra, Campbell, Flores and Dekker
