Mets Minor League Report: April 22, 2014

 
MMLR Players of the Day: Las Vegas 1B Allan Dykstra & CF Matt den Dekker.
With a 21 run, 21 hit attack, it is difficult to single out individual performances, but Dykstra’s and den Dekker’s almost identical nights stand above the rest.


In a squeeker, Las Vegas (15-5) edges El Paso (7-12) 21-9.


Dana Eveland (W, 2-0) got another start, albeit a shaky one: 5.0 IP, 4 R, 7 H, (2 HR) BB, 8 K.
Giancarlo Alvarado got an equally shaky hold: 3.0 IP, 4 R, 5 H, (HR) 3 BB, 2 K.
Josh Edgin, not to be outdone: 1.0 IP, R, 2 H, (HR) BB, 2 K.

Cesar Puello: 3-7, 4 R.
Eric Campbell: 4-5, 2 2B, BB, 3 RBI, 3 R.Wilmer Flores: 2-7, 2 RBI, 2 R.
Allan Dykstra: 4-5, HR, 2 2B, BB, 5 RBI, 4 R. Immediately following his selection as PCL Player of the Week, Dykstra goes even one up.
Matt den Dekker: 3-4, HR, 3B, 2 BB, 5 RBI, 4 R.

Portland (12-4) pops Binghamton (9-7) 5-3 in 11 innings.


Hansel Robles, uncharacteristically wild, was pulled after 4.2 innings: 3 R, 2 ER, 4 H, 7 BB, 5 K.
Cody Satterwhite got things back under control: 2.1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 2 BB, 4 K.
John Church pitched a perfect inning, striking out the side.
Chase Bradford was almost as good: 2.0 IP, 0 R, H, 0 BB, K.
Jon Velasquez (L, 0-2) made one mistake and paid for it: 1.0 IP, 2 R, 2 H, (HR)

Kyle Johnson: 2-5, 2B.
Kevin Plawecki: 2-5, RBI.
Jayce Boyd: 1-5, RBI.

Big come-from-behind win as St. Lucie (11-7) surprises Palm Beach (8-10) 6-5 in 12 innings.

Palm Beach got out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the 1^st, and then added another before the Lucies were able to get on the board with a run in the 6^th. The Mets mounted a big comeback with 4 runs in the bottom of the 9^th, highlighted by a 2 run homer by Phillip Evans and a 2 run single by T.J. Rivera, to tie the score and send the game into extra innings. A 2 out RBI single by Phillip Evans in the bottom of the 12^th, after Eudy Pina stole second, sent the fans home happy.

St. Lucie pitching was pretty solid.

The bull pen held the fort until the cavalry could come to the rescue:
Randy Fontanez (W, 1-1) pitched a strong 12^th. 1.0 IP, 0 R, H, BB, K.

Brandon Nimmo: 1-4, 2 BB, 2 SB.
