LAST GAME: The Binghamton Mets pounded out 17 hits en route to a 12-3 win over Akron RubberDucks, on Friday night at NYSEG Stadium. The B-Mets fell behind 2-0 in the first, but scored the next 12 runs of the contest. Dilson Herrera went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two runs scored and four RBI. Jayce Boyd gave the B-Mets the lead with a three-run home run in the first inning. Darrell Ceciliani went 3-for5 with a home run and three RBI. He extended his hitting streak to a season-long ten games. Tyler Pill tossed five innings for Binghamton and allowed two runs. The righty struck out seven in the victory. The B-Mets remain two games back of Portland for first place in the Eastern Division.
BINGHAMTON STARTERRHP Greg Peavey takes the hill for the 17th time this season and the second against Akron. The righty is coming off a win in his last outing. He tossed 5.1 innings and gave up three runs on Monday, August 18 against Erie. Binghamton won the game 11-4. Peavey got the win in his only other outing against the RubberDucks. The 26-year-old surrendered just two runs on four hits in six innings in an 11-3 B-Mets victory on June 12 at Canal Park. Peavey has struck out at least five batters in seven of his last eight games. The Vancouver, Washington native was taken by the Mets in the sixth round of the 2010 draft out of Oregon State University.

AKRON STARTER: RHP Duke von Schamann toes the rubber for the 23rd time this season and his 19th start. The righty is coming off a loss in his most recent appearance. He gave up eight runs (six earned) on nine hits in 4.2 frames against New Hampshire on Saturday, August 16. The RubberDucks lost the game 8-6. The Tulsa, Oklahoma native won his only other outing against Binghamton this season. He gave up two runs in seven innings in a 10-2 Akron victory on June 9. He’s started his last 18 games after coming out of the bullpen to start the season. Von Schamann was acquired by the Indians in a trade with the Dodger in April.

HITS ON HITS ON HITS: Binghamton’s 17 hit performance on Friday gave them 56 in their last four games. That stretch includes three games of 15 or more base knocks. The team has scored 31 runs in that time. They’re second in the league in hits with1,207.

BURGAMY GETS RECOGNIZED: B-Mets INF Brian Burgamy was named a Eastern League postseason All-Star on Friday. The slugger was also a Mid-Season All-Star. Burgamy is among the league leaders in seven offensive categories. That includes home runs, RBI, slugging percentage, extra-base hits, runs scored, total bases, and walks.

DOMININATING THE DUCKS: Binghamton’s 12-run performance on Friday marked the fourth straight game they have tallied double-digits in runs against the RubberDucks. The team has won it’s last fifth matchups with Akron dating back to June. The B-Mets have outscored the squad 56-18 in that time.

TWO HORSE RACE: The B-Mets have clinched their spot in the postseason, but can still win the Eastern Division. The team is 2.5 games back entering action on Saturday with eleven games remaining on the schedule.

NO DOG DAYS FOR DARRELL: Binghamton OF Darrell Ceciliani extended his season-long hitting streak to ten games on Friday. He’s hitting .389 (28-for-72) in 17games in August with three doubles, a triple, a home run and 12 runs scored. He has a base knock in all but one game this month. That includes nine multi-hit performances.
