  1. By close of business Wednesday (the 27th) we will know if anyone has put in a claim on him. If so, then there's 48 hours for a deal to be made. If not, then there's 96 hours to do it.

Of course, getting our hopes up and crushing them is a way of life for Mets fans. It could just be Sandy Alderson ascertaining who might have interest in the big man for an off-season move.

Of course, freeing yourself from his contract and gaining $10.5 million of payroll flexibility (assuming a minimum wage pitcher such as Syndergaard or Montero take his spot) would be a smart move regardless of the return.

  2. I assume that NO team will claim em, because they know Sandy will ask for their top prospects, and then ownership would simply let that team take colon and his salary instead. .........
So, after he clears waivers, I'm cool with whatever low level prospect they get

  3. don't be surprised if the Dodgers block any attempt by the Angels and make a move here

  4. The Dodgers might actually want Colon as insurance. They can claim him to block the Angels. Offer the Mets close to nothing. If the Mets pull him back then at least they blocked the Angels. If the Mets don't they'll eat what remains on his 2014 contract and then trade him in the off season. They're in a better position to eat some of his 2015 salary in a dael than the Mets are. I think it would be a smart move for the Dodgers.
