Sandy Alderson - 3 Year Extension - Opinion

Reports are that the Mets have signed General Manager Sandy Alderson to a three year extension. This could be his 2015 option year, plus three more, or simply a total of three through the 2017 season. Confirmation of the signing hasn't been made.

Frankly, I will be happy with the clarity. The Mets have played very well since 10 games prior to the All-Star break, and that was without the services of their best starter (Matt Harvey), their closer (Bobby Parnell) and a limited David Wright.

I believe Alderson deserves the opportunity to complete his plan which seems to be on target.

  1. next year is it, for me. I expect a winning team to come out of his plan. Not another wait till next year

  2. Id be happy with the extension. He's improved this team and overall farm system tremendously.
All those rumors about other GMs hating him, yet still the Mets have Thor, TDA, Herrera, vic black, and lots of 18-20yr olds who may pan out (like rosario, urena, molina, etc)
He took risk on chris young. .......well, who the hell wanted hgh washout marlon byrd? U can't bat .1000 with your decisions. .....
Plus, I like stability. ...I want my favorite team to have familiar names to follow, like David Wright being a lifer.

If the comment about other GMs hating Alderson was directed at me... I never said that. I said they don't like dealing with hi. Much different than hate.

  4. Nothing to do with u old macky baby....
Many social media sites, especially good old twitter, is full of hate and anger and theories about a guy who seems to have this team in the right direction. .....
I know nothing about his relationships with other organizations or his relationship with the commissioner. .....I only know that the organization just fielded a bunch of minor league playoff teams, a championship aa ball team, and has about 10 guys capable of starting in the mlb next year. (Tell me teams like the marlins rays and As wouldn't even have the mets lower level prospects of mazzoni and gorski and others on their 25 man next year)

Yeah, I'm just writing about the fact that the Mets simply will not be able to field all of the major league pitching talent they will develop... there simply are too many of them

and... they only seem to have 3 positions that they need help in the future... LHRP, LF and SS (which could be Flores)

Ernest... it's time to package 3-4 of these guys for a Tulo/Cargo type player to put thim team over the top

  6. Aside from his unwillingness to make obvious deals at the trade deadline, he's done a fine job.

Oh yeah...there is his choice of manager. Bleh!

  7. Can we get Wally on staff and Frank Viola as PC?

  8. They're throwing in the towel on 2015 before 2014 is over. Then again, they can't afford to pay Terry Collins NOT to manage when the cupboards are bare.

  9. Ernest makes a good point about the anger and extreme comments that you see elsewhere in blogger-dom. I was drawn to Mack's website because of the passionate, knowledgeable and, as or more importantly, civil exchanges that take place there daily...OK to disagree with someone strongly without attacking the person.

Sandy's done a lot of good things...and now is when he needs to be a maestro and deal surplus in a way that could set us up as at least equals to the Nats at the minimum, and perhaps a mini-dynasty anchored by our young arms. Jake, Matt, Zach, Thor, and Steve....a truly Fab 5.

And of course....move the fences IN!
