Monday Night in Miami, after being completely shut down by
Jarred Cosart for 8 innings, Daniel Murphy connected for a three run homer off
Marlin closer Steve Cishek in the top of the 9th inning, the Mets
roar back to beat the Marlins 3-1.
The first 8 innings of the game was a pitching duel between Dillon Gee and Cosart. Gee blinked first allowing a run in the bottom of the 8th on an RBI single by Martin Prado. Cosart allowed just 2 hits over 8 innings walking 3 and striking out 2 came out in favor of Cishek in the top of the 9th.
Juan Lagares greeted Cishek with a double to right center that was pretty much misplayed by Marcel Ozuna. Lucas Duda then walked. Then after Michael Cuddyer flied out, Murphy connected for his 2nd homer on the year, a long drive to the pavilion in right center to give the Mets the lead and the victory.
Gee went 7 2/3’s allowing 6 hits a run (earned) he struck out three and takes a no decision. Carlos Torres got the final out of the 8th. Jeurrys Familia came on in the 9th and picked up his 9th save.
The Mets had 5 hits on the night; Lagares led the way with two. Murphy, who is now heating up now leads the Mets with 14 RBI. Murph also made an amazing running put out on Michael Morse in the 9th. Torres gets the win he’s now 1-0. Cishek takes the loss falling 0-1 blowing his 2nd save on the year.
With the win the Mets improve to 15-5 on the season and are now 5-5 on the road. Tuesday night its game two of the series, Raphael Montero (0-1 7.71) makes his first start of the season for the Mets, David Phelps (1-0 3.75) goes for Miami.

Tonight in Vegas Syndergaard was dominate. He went against top prospect Jon Gray. The desert was too much for Gray but Syndergaard limited Albuquerque and the desert to 2 hits. He struck out 9 without a walk in 7 innings. A complete game. Short because of a double header.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding fastball command. He showed confidence in his curveball. Double upping with it on several occasions which he rarely down in his career.
