Minor League Recap - 4-25-15
Minor League Player of The Night - Michael Conforto, with another highly impressive offensive performance in the lone Mets minors win of the night.
Honorable Mention - the St Lucie bullpen, for locking down their opponent over multiple innings for a second straight overtime affair. A mediocre pen and they'd have lost the last 2 games, but this pen is far from mediocre.
AAA - Las Vegas - Postponed due to rain
The skies over Vegas were tearing up in pride over the home run bats or recent Vegas alums Eric Campbell and Kevin Plawecki, who both homered off CC Sabathia today in Yankee Stadium.
AA - New Hampshire (9-8) 10 - Binghamton (8-8) 5
RHSP Luis Cessa - 5.0-IP, 11-H, 4-R, 3-K, 2-BB, 2.25
CF Brandon Nimmo - 2-5, .274
LF Jared King - 2-4, 1-R, 1-RBI, .233
RF Eudy Pina - 2-4, .359
20 hits surrendered by B Met pitchers. Wow. Can Eudy Pina keep up the torrid start?
A+ - St. Lucie (9-8) 4 - Ft. Myers (6-11) 3
RHSP Rob Whalen - 7.2-IP, 4-H, 3-R, 4-K, 1-BB, 1.93
LF - Michael Conforto - 3-4, 2-R, double, 1-HR (5), 2-RBI, .338
2B Jeff McNeil - 2-5, 2-R, double, .293
McNeil is a forgotten guy in the flood of middle infielders, but is a talented player with a future, who has gotten hot. Conforto continues to dazzle with the lumber. He has 17 RBIs in 17 games!
This was an 11 inning affair on top of the prior night's 17 inning win. The pen, led this time by Morris and Coles, and Hepple, secured the win again. Victor Cruzado tied it with a 2 out, 9th inning clutch double, and Matt Oberste drove in the game winner in the 11th.
A - Charleston (12-5) 6 - Savannah (5-11) 5
RHSP Josh Prevost - 6.0-IP, 8-H, 6-R, 5-K, 0-BB, 6.75
SS Luis Guillorme - 2-3, 2-R, .340
RF-LF Stefan Sabol - 2-5, 1-RBI, .311
Savannah is a long way from last year's high winning team. No Alvarez, no Morris, and weaker starting pitching so far than in 2014. Guillorme has been highly effective with the stick in 2015.
Underperformers du Jour: Luis Cessa and Josh Prevost both were all too hittable in their respective starts.
McNeil--- he should pin Marco Scutaro's stats to his wall, and keep working!...it CAN Happen!

Ah, Scutaro. Another proud graduate of the Mets farm system. Talk about one we should have kept!
ReplyDeleteScutaro was 27-27 before he got his shot---and he may not have been ready earlier-=--who knows?
ReplyDeleteFirst Round picks usually get to fail twice--- "other guys" wait for the chance to fail or succees---it's evry thin slice for Jeff McNeil. At 23, even "the Scutaro path" would have him above A+ St. Lucie. It's one thing to wait, but his development is tougher at a "low" level assignment. ...it's a tough row to hoe.
