St. Lucie 3 - Bradenton 2

Michael Conforto blasted a two-out, two-run home run in the eighth inning to give the St. Lucie Mets a 3-2 win over the Bradenton Marauders on Saturday.

The Mets trailed 2-1 with two outs in the eighth when Champ Stuart stole second base. After Bradenton manager Michael Ryan disputed the safe call, Conforto launched a moonshot to right-center field.

Robert Coles got Chris Diaz to line into a game-ending double play with the tying run on third in the ninth. Diaz hit a rocket that was caught by Amed Rosario, who threw over to first to double off Jin-De Jhang.

In his Florida State League debut, Mets starter Marcos Molina gave up two runs on five hits in six innings.

Molina had two outs and a two-strike count on Erich Weiss in the sixth, but Weiss hit a two-run double to put the Marauders in front 2-1. Molina responded by striking out Jose Osuna, the last batter he faced. Molina struck out six.

Offensively the Mets were quiet. Champ Stuart notched a two-out RBI single in the fifth off of Frank Duncan, but that was all the Mets could muster until Conforto’s homer.

Jake Kuebler pitched a scoreless seventh to get the win. He stranded a runner on third.

Kyle Regnault pitched a clean eighth to register a hold.

Brett McKinney, who served up the homer to Conforto, took the loss.
