LAST GAME: The B-Mets dropped the final two games of their series with Akron, losing 6-1 Monday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium. Binghamton was held off the scoreboard until the ninth inning. The B-Mets were held to less than two runs for the eighth time this season, and the third time in their last eight games. Jairo Perez had two hits and drove in Binghamton’s lone run. Binghamton committed three errors in a four run fourth inning, including two on one play that allowed the RubberDucks to score three runs on a single. Vic Black tossed a 1-2-3 seventh inning, striking out a batter.
BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Gabriel Ynoa is making his eighth start of the year and second against Portland. The righty is coming off a loss, allowing five runs on six hits over five innings in Harrisburg. He allowed a season-high 12 hits against Portland in his first go-round, earning a no-decision. He surrendered four runs in 6.2 innings in a 5-4 B-Mets win. Opponents are hitting .319 against Ynoa in his four starts at home. He has allowed 11 runs in the first two innings of starts this year. Opponents are batting .333 against the righty in the first three innings.
PORTLAND STARTER: RHP Joe Gunkel is making his third appearance and second start with Portland this season. He’s coming off a win in his last outing, allowing a run in five innings pitched against Altoona. He has walked five while striking out 12 in his 8.1 innings of work with Portland. He was 1-1 with a 2.05 ERA in eight appearances with Salem (High-A) before earning the promotion. It’s his first time in Double-A. In 52 career appearances, 18 have been starts. Lefties are 7-for-13 against Gunkel.
VS. PORTLAND: Binghamton has won five of their first seven meetings with the Sea Dogs. The B-Mets have hit .248 in the seven games, averaging 5.4 runs per game. Binghamton has hit five home runs against Portland pitching, while B-Met pitching has worked to a 2.66 ERA. The two teams have combined to commit 18 errors.
SLUGGISH OFFENSE: Binghamton is batting .220 in their last eight games, averaging 2.6 runs during that span. Binghamton has scored fewer than three runs in three of the eight games, going 3-5.

BUOYED BY BOYD: Jayce Boyd is currently on a season-high 11-game hitting streak. He is batting .386 (17-for-44) during that time, with multiple hits in six of the 11 games. It’s his longest streak since hitting in 18 consecutive games in June 2013.
DUCK HUNTER: Gilbert Gomez is 7-for-22 (.318) against the Akron RubberDucks this seaosn, but just 3-for-48 (.063) against the rest of the league. All four extra-base hits have come against Akron.
