Las Vegas got a decent start of Logan Verrett, an awful final 4 run inning out of John Church to put it out of reach, and hitting that could do nothing against Rockie 1st rounder Jon Gray.  All told, the 51s lost for one of the few times recently.

Notable was Dilson Herrera (.349) getting 3 hits on a night that all other Vegas hitters struggled, such as Cory Vaughn (0-4, 3 K, .204).

Binghamton's booming bats bested and bashed the bums they were playing.  Gavin Cecchini (.305) rocked the world with a 4-6, HR, 4 RBI day, Mazzilli also went 4-6, and Conforto launched a triple and single to settle in at .325. Even Gil Gomez (.150) had 2 RBIs.

Rainy Lara appreciated the 16 hit attack while securing the B Met win. Akeel Morris allowed a hit and walk in a scoreless 8th in one of his infrequent recent appearances.

St Lucie got 3 hits apiece from Jeff McNeil and Stefan Sabol, Logan Taylor (4-7, 4.25, but 4-4 and an ERA under 3.00 in his last 9 starts) continued his improved pitching for the win, and Jeff Walters made it a happy recap with a scoreless 9th.

Savannah had another rainy night in Georgia, this time on Sunday afternoon, suspending yet another game. Gnat a good thing.

Brooklyn got a fine start from Gabe Almonte and (of course) a scoreless 2.2 innings from the lethal pen. Wonderful Vinnie Siena (.340) and Michael Bernal paced the Cyclone offense with 3 hits apiece in a laugher.

Kingsport has had better days at the plate and on the mound, as each of the hurlers gave up at least 2 runs.

GOATS: John Church and the Kingsport Mound Trio.

  1. Gavin Cecchini: he has made a lot of errors this year, but did anyone out there believe before this season that he would be on a 162 game pace to score 100, knock in 82, and be sitting at .305/.368/.440? I certainly did not, and am very pleasantly surprised. He currently is on a .447, 10 game tear. Go, Gavin, go.
